"Who on earth brought that filth of a woman in this castle hall! Get her out of my face immediately!" The woman that's sitting in front of a throne is shouting like a lunatic as I just squinted my eyes in disappointment.
What did I just get myself into? One moment ago, I was just out in the fields trying to harvest rice in our farmlands and now I'm currently standing in this throne room with these stuck-up royal people. Talk about a change of scenery real quick but anyways, let's go back to the time where it began. The time where I was just living my own life and minding my own business.
FLASHBACKS
"Ana! Are you done with harvesting the rice!?" My mother yelled out in our hut as I continue to harvest the rice with a sickle. My feet in the wet, muddy sticky ground of the rice paddies. Usually, I would be really grossed out, having to work in manual labor like this but it's not like I got a choice. It's either, you work to get food or you die ugly since you'll be so skinny as a skeleton and I'm definitely too pretty to die like that.
"You know mother if we have a machine to do this for us. That would be a lot better but since you chose to be poor because of your bad decisions in choosing a husband. You've got no right to be mad at me for taking this long since I'm just not made to do this!" I shouted back at her.
"Get your scallywag ass over here and finish that!" She shouted back at me. Geez, my mother has quite the temper. I guess that's why I also have that temper. Though I heard you'd grow more wrinkles if you're angry all the time so I totally don't wanna be her.
I continued to harvest the rice while she continued ranting and screaming on my ears like barnyard animals until finally, I went over to our house after I put the harvest on a sack and placed it on our barn. I wiped off the sweat that had accumulated on my hair. Oh my gosh.. I am such a disaster but finally, I can take a shower when I get home.
I opened the door to my mother who has a flask in her hand while casually sitting down on the couch. "What took you so long?! Is harvesting rice really that hard for you? What on earth made you take that long?" She started to explode on me like usual. Geez, why is she so annoying again.
"That took so long because I was the only one doing the working mother. You could have helped you know?" I let out a fake smile pretending I'm concerned.
"I was busy doing other things. You know how hard it is to live off with little money, having to live our lives on this small farm?! It's so struggling and tiring just having to get money and now I have to deal with your ramblings as well?! The least you could do is be a good daughter not like your no-good father for literally ditching us!" She raised her voice with me, making me burst my nerve at her.
This always happens every day. Every little thing, we would fight about it. There was nothing that we couldn't fight about. It's kind of getting tiring considering this relationship ain't exactly healthy in the slightest. I've always remained silent and just let my mother talk down on me but her comparing me to my father for being useless is just the last straw for me!
"You know if you hadn't spent our money for your drinking problem then we could have used it to invest on our rice farm," I responded with sass to her. Making her face contort into a scowl.
"Wow. So you're gonna talk back now to me huh?! You got the nerve to speak to your mother like that! After I raised you, you ungrateful brat!" Fuming with anger, she stomped her foot on the ground like a mad bull.
"Ya! I am! Because you keep bitching about us not having enough money when I literally see you all the time just drinking and wasting our money in your vices like your gambling addiction and that horrible drinking problem of yours. Maybe next time don't spend our money so willy-nilly like that, and the fact that you have the right to complain about me, talking back to you when I tried to the patient and tried to help you for so long and yet you ignore it, is just beyond me!" I also ended up exploding in front of her, telling her what I feel. She's such a hypocrite for complaining about the lack of money when it's her problems that are causing this.
"Why are you blaming this on just my drinking?! What about your useless needs for those notebooks and shit! You think I'd want to waste my money on that shit! Who even needs a pen! All you do is write, write and it's not even earning us money when you do that!" She shouted, bringing up how I need supplies for school.
"That's for my school you illiterate hag! Don't you realize that it's more important than your drinking?! If I graduate then I'll be able to get a better paying job for us but instead of being a useful and caring mother, you choose to be a bitch!" I shouted, as I did that, she had the last straw and quickly pounced at me, attempting to grab my hair until all of sudden, a knock on the door was heard, stopping us.
"Hello! We wish to speak to Anastasia Ambers!" Two men outside are knocking on the door loudly. What could they possibly want with me? This better not be one of the mother's boy toys again. I swear if she gets us into more trouble, I would totally disown her.
