Candy and I walked along the sidewalk in Oresas City. We were relatively quiet for most of the walk. People looked at Candy with confused expressions. I had my hands in my pocket then Candy ran up towards me and tugged my jacket.
"Hakai.." Candy looked at me.
"I told you the rules." I answered.
"I know I know...but I'm hungry." Candy responded and her stomach growled.
I groaned and rolled my eyes then crossed my arms. I looked at her and she gave me puppy eyes and I looked away.
"I know a good place we can go.." I said and closed my eyes. "But first I must go back home to get fixed."
"Fixed?" Candy tilted her head and blinked at me.
I looked at her and had a flashback about a girl I once knew. I held my head and let out a soft sigh. She looked at me worried. I walked ahead.
"Yeah...fixed. My left eye...I gotta get it healed." I said.
"Oh I can do that for you!" Candy smiled and looked at me.
She stopped me and I looked at her then covered my left eye. She puffed her cheek and yanked my hand away then saw a scar on my left eye. She blinked and looked at me. I closed my eyes.
"This scar...where did you get it from? Was it during your battle with that Ludero guy?" Candy looked at me.
"No." I answered.
Candy decided not to ask any further questions and placed her hand on my eye and began to heal my eye. The green aura soothed my aching eye. She finished and smiled. I opened my left eye then sighed a bit.
"Thanks..I guess." I blushed a bit and looked away.
"No problem!" Candy smiled happily.
"Come let's go get something to eat." I said then walked off.
Candy nodded and smiled, following behind me. We soon arrived at a restaurant named Barbeque House. We walked in and a bell chimed. I stuck my hands in my jacket pocket and sighed. Candy peeked her head inside and looked in awe. I walked ahead and sat at the bar area and Candy sat next to me.
"Welcome back Hakai." A woman spoke to me.
"Maria." I said without making eye contact with her.
"What's the matter, darling?" Maria giggled and looked at me, leaning against the counter. "You didn't tell me you'd bring a date. I'm jealous.."
"She's not my date." I blushed hard and sighed.
"I'm just teasing." Maria giggled and rolled her eyes. "What can I get for you?"
"The usual." I said.
"Oh! I want the Spicy Honey Barbeque Ribs!" Candy smiled at Maria.
"Coming right up!" Maria wrote our order in her notebook and walked off.
I took my phone out and started to scroll through old pictures of me and some friends of mine. As I scrolled, I stopped at a picture of me and a young girl. I looked at the picture and gripped my phone tighter a bit.
"Trixy..." I sighed softly. Candy looked over at me and scooted closer.
"Whatcha looking at?" Candy asked trying to take a peek at the picture.
"Nothing of your concern." I said and turned my phone screen off.
"C'mon tell me!" Candy begged.
"No." I responded.
"Please?" Candy pleaded.
"No." I responded in the same tone.
Candy grabbed on my sleeve and slightly pushed and pulled me, trying to get me to show her the picture. Two figures stood outside the restaurant and watched us.
"Those two...are the ones who killed Ludero. The Dragon King will not be pleased with that. In honor of the Dragon King and Ludero, we must kill them." The female said.
"Wait...that's Hakai right there. We can capture him and bring him back to the Dragon King." The male smirked and looked at the female.
"I like the way you think..." The female smirked.
Candy was eating her food and my left eye flashed red for a second and I looked back to see two figures aiming dark spikes at us. I stood up and shielded Candy then deflected the dark spikes and Candy looked back quickly. Maria looked up and at me.
"Maria... Evacuate everyone to the safe room." I said.
"Roger." Maria said and pressed a button on the table and an alarm rang and everyone stood up to follow Maria to the safe room.
"C a u t i o n! H i g h l e v e l s o f d a r k e n e r g y n e a r b y. P r o p o s a l : E v a c u a t e I m m e d i a t e l y." Plexi said.
"Running will get you nowhere." The female said and laughed, summoning her axe.
"You will die by our hands!" The male said and summoned his sword.
"Eve and Kuda...Students of Ludero...you interrupted my time to eat and now I'm pissed off. I will see to your deaths immediately!" I said and summoned my sword.
"Hakai..?" Candy looked at me worried.
I vanished and appeared in front of Kuda and kicked him through the window. Eve slashed down with her axe and I vanished then appeared behind Eve and threw her outside. Eve and Kuda stood up and looked at me. I snapped my fingers and two dark orbs appeared behind me. I threw them both at Eve and Kuda and they deflected them. Dark red aura emitted from my left eye as a symbol slowly formed in my left eye. They dashed to me and I blocked their attacks and ran out the building. They followed and kept up the offensive on me. I looked up and noticed the dark orbs were in the air, staying in place.
"I got you now!" Kuda bellowed and sent a dark blast at me.
I scoffed and swapped places with the right dark orb and the dark orb exploded as it made contact with the dark blast. Candy watched more and more in awe. I landed on the ground and Eve nodded at Kuda. They both bellowed and their auras surged. I watched them and they dashed to me at high speeds. I grunted and dodged Eve but was hit by Kuda and was blown back. Eve appeared above me and kicked me down. I rebounded off the grown and slid back. I snapped my fingers and dark spikes appeared behind me and I shot the dark spikes at them. Kuda spun his sword in a circle deflecting the dark spikes. Eve appeared in front of him and had a wicked smile on her face. She palmed my stomach a spike shot through my body and I coughed blood. Candy panted and started to get tunnel vision.
"Hakai...I have to help him.." Candy said as she sweated and her hands shook. "Leave him alone.."
I laid on the ground panting and coughed a bit of blood. I looked at them and glared. Kuda pressed his foot on my head and smirked evilly at me. Eve crouched down and looked at me.
"How unfortunate. The unbeatable Hakai taken off guard by our power. We may be goons but that doesn't mean we aren't powerful." Eve giggled and smirked.
"Hold on...That dark aura." Kuda looked back.
Candy walked out the restaurant and her hair covered her eyes. Her aura ever so slightly turning darker. She looked at Eve and Kuda and her eyes shined purple. She opened her hand and a dark spike appeared.
"I will...protect him. I will...kill you!" Candy yelled and dashed towards Eve and Kuda. She shot the dark spikes at them and they quickly dodged. She yelled and dark spikes circled around her.
I looked at Candy in shock. She released the dark spikes in all directions. She has lost the ability to think rationally and began acting wildly.
"This girl...this dark aura.." Kuda looked at Eve.
"I refuse to lose in such an embarrassing way!" Eve bellowed and dashed towards Candy.
Candy looked at Eve and blocked her attack then stabbed a dark spike through Eve's chest. Kuda looked surprised and I watched then felt Candy becoming weaker.
"Wait...why is she becoming weaker..?" I asked myself.
Candy panted and her heart thumped hard and she coughed blood. I noticed and slowly stood up.
"CANDY STOP IT!" I yelled.
Candy looked surprised and looked back at me. I noticed a dark spike headed directly at Candy and I pushed her aside and held my hand out then released a dark pulse that shattered the dark spike. Kuda was surprised and my wound healed slowly.
"I see...you chose to protect her." The voice said in my head.
"...I won't lose anyone else. I can change this outcome if I just...learn to accept people more." I said and looked back at Candy.
Kuda landed on the ground and his sword shined. I lowered my hand and smiled then looked at Kuda. I summoned my sword and got in a stance. I dashed towards Kuda and he dashed to me. We clashed blades and entered a sword lock. Kuda glared at me and I smirked at him.
"Candy!" Maria called out. She threw two pistols at her.
Candy caught them and looked at Maria. Maria nodded then Candy stood up. She looked at Plexi.
"Plexi. Enter Battle Mode." Candy said. "I will protect him and be by his side...even if he does push me away."
"So you wish to protect him also...I see." The voice said in Candy's head. "Very interesting."
"I must...This feeling I have inside...it's telling me to stay by his side no matter what. I will do just that!" Candy said and watched me battle Kuda.
"I can sense that chaotic nature within your soul. You desire to say by his side and help him no matter what. With my power you can. All I need is your pact." The voice said.
"I accept the terms." Candy said.
"Good.." The voice said.
I sensed some chaotic energy and jumped back. I looked behind me and saw Candy's aura. She bellowed and her light aura surged wildly and the marking on the right side of her eye slowly transformed into cursed marks around her eyes. She opened her eyes and they shined a light blue.
"Hakai." Candy looked at me.
"Candy." I answered back.
We stared for a bit then nodded. I jumped back and red eyeliner slowly appeared around my eyes. Kuda laughed and dragon horn grew on the left side of his head then he dashed to us at high speeds. We dodged his attack and I appeared behind him and kicked him away. Candy appeared above him and began shooting Kuda and sent Kuda crashing onto the ground. Candy landed and watched me run past her. She ran behind me. Kuda stood up and roared. I swapped places with Candy and she punched him away. I was behind her and a large dark orb appeared above me.
"Fool.." I said and threw the dark orb at Kuda.
He stood up and looked at the dark orb and it exploded upon contact. Candy and I watched the explosion. She looked at me and turned normal and passed out. I caught her and looked at her. I turned normal and felt rain droplets fall on me. It began to rain and I took her inside. I don't know why, but I held her in my arms and wouldn't let go. I had a flashback about me and Trixy. Something about this moment filled me with nostalgia. I looked at Candy and watched her peacefully rest and gave a slight smile.
