(A/N: Changing the writing style slightly. No more names before the dialogue.)
When midnight arrived, I take off my clothes, leaving only my soft armor on, and transform into my werewolf form.
I open the window to my room and slip out into the darkness.
Looking and sniffing around for any people I sneakily make my way to the roof of the Inn.
Running on all fours, I speed ahead, hopping from building to building.
As I reach the warehouse I slow down and do one last scout to see if anything has changed.
There are slightly more guards outside, but in exchange, there are fewer on the inside.
That's good.
I hop onto the closest building and transform into my full wolf form. I'll call it my 'Direwolf' form from now on.
In this form, I can freely change my size, unlike my werewolf form in which I'm about a foot taller and much bulkier.
This form also gives me superior strength, speed, and sense of smell.
But since I'm only half-wolf, I can't keep up this form for very long. Dad said I'll be able to maintain this form continuously when I get strong enough to control my 'divine power'.
I become as small as my wolf form can be and jump to a dark open space devoid of too many guards.
(A/N: The smallest he can be is about the size of a Russian Gray Wolf. The biggest he can be now is the size of an elephant. His dad can become as big as Sif, from Dark Souls.)
Quickly making my way close to the walls of the warehouse, I scour the perimeter in search of a window.
This place doesn't have many openings.
Sneaking along further, I spot an area seemingly under construction.
How convenient.
I hop onto the very top of the scaffolding, which was about three-fourths of the way up the wall. I run up the rest of the way to the roof.
I sneak to the roof skylight and peer through.
I open the window slightly and take a whiff of the inside.
Luckily, tonight is overcast, and no one can see me open the window under the moonlight.
I smell the mark I made on the carriage. It's coming from a garage-like room in the corner.
Unfortunately, it's covered by multiple guards.
There doesn't seem to be any openings in their formations, so it looks like I'll have to get my paws dirty.
I sniff the air again to get a grasp on the number of guards.
There are 14 inside. 10 of whom are guarding the carriage, the rest are covering the doors and the few wall windows.
The four guards not protecting the carriage are far enough away for me to take down one by one.
The first one I aim for is looking out a window. I pounce on his back and bite down on the back of his neck, causing it to snap, killing him instantly. I drag him to a darker corner a few feet away and leave him there.
The second guard is at the door, leaning against the wall. I do the same to the first and bite into his neck.
He gurgles quietly as he drowns in his blood, dying shortly afterward. I move him away from view.
before the third guard notices that no one is covering the door, I run as quietly as I can and swipe his throat with my claws.
"Huh?"
The last guard might've noticed the third guard falling down. My mistake, I should've just bit his neck like the others.
I move quickly and bite at his neck.
The guard, who seemed experienced, managed to move slightly out of the way, but he wasn't fast enough.
Instead of feeling his throat in my jaws, I feel his head.
I do not hesitate to bite down harder in order to kill him quickly.
His head burst under the strength of my bite and I can feel pieces of his brain on my tongue.
Gross.
Well, it doesn't taste too bad, but it feels very off.
I spit out the guard's brain and lick my lips to remove the blood and gray matter from my tongue.
I look towards the other 10 men guarding the carriage. They haven't noticed my takedowns.
Since they are covering each other's back and keeping watch, I may just have to go all out.
I transform into my werewolf form and charge at the guards.
"What in the-?!"
The first guard that noticed me got his head buried into the ground.
"A-attack!"
"It's a monster!"
The two guards who yelled out were quickly dealt with by clawing out their throats.
The remaining seven drew their weapons and started their attacks.
One tried to swing at me with his sword while another stabbed at my abdomen with a spear.
I grab the spear before it connects and pull him forward while deflecting the sword swing with my armored forearm.
I bite a chunk out of the spearman's neck and use the spear I took to smack the swordsman in the head, hard.
Since the spear was of good quality, the wood didn't break from the impact. Instead, the side of the swordsman's head caved in, killing him.
In just a few seconds, I dealt with half of the guards protecting the carriage.
The other five hesitated for a second at my massacre, their weapons drawn but not readied.
I took this moment of hesitation to throw the spear in my hand to the closest guard.
Since the spear wasn't balanced for throwing and I wasn't trained in throwing it, it just kinda stunned the guy.
I run at the guard and stab his chest using my clawed fingers, then I violently threw his body at the guard just behind him.
I'm not sure that killed him, but at least he won't be getting up anytime soon.
The remaining three shake off their fear and come at me all at once
One swings his sword vertically at my face, the second stabs at me with a dagger, and the last brings down a hammer.
I barely dodge the sword and get nicked on the cheek, I grab the wrist of the dagger wielder and crush it, and with my other hand, I grab the head of the hammer before it could pick up enough speed to hurt me.
"Argh! My arm!"
The dagger wielder yells in pain and I chuck him to the side while swiping his dagger and shoving it in the swordsman's head up to the pommel.
I then force the hammer out of the other guard and quite literally, bite his face off.
"Guh! D-damn monster!"
Hammer still in hand, I look back at the guard with the crushed wrist.
I step closer to him as I wipe some of my blood from my cheek.
"Your friend cut me pretty deep. What are you gonna do to make it up to me? Will you tell me what exactly you have in that carriage? Or will you die like a dog in the dark?"
I try speaking in the most intimidating tone I could muster. I haven't spoken in my werewolf form in so long, I almost forgot how deep and scary it is.
I can smell shit and piss coming from the guard still on the floor.
"P-please spar me! I was j-just hired to guard the carriage for a lot of r-ryō! I don't know what's in there! Please, just let me live!"
I narrow my eyes and sniff the air. It doesn't smell like he's lying.
I show him a toothy grin. His fear only grows at the sight of my fangs.
"Hmph, fine. You can go."
The guard looks at me in surprise and stumbles up in a hurry to leave through the door.
Sike. I'm not gonna let you alert the guards outside.
I take the hammer with both hands and bring it above my head.
With all my strength, I throw the hammer at the back of the escaping guard's head, blowing his head clean off and spraying viscera everywhere.
Whoa. I didn't expect his head to explode like a watermelon that was wrapped in a thousand rubber bands.
I check my cheek again. It stopped bleeding.
I turn my attention to the garage where the carriage is located.
I break the lock off and open the door and open the carriage slowly.
What I see inside is a sleeping beastkin girl, about 14/15 years in age, with a slightly ripped expensive-looking white dress.
Her ears and tail are those of a tiger. My favorite animal.
Her face is very beautiful and angular, and her short bob hair is orange with black stripes.
Her arms and barefoot legs are restrained by chains attached to the floor of the carriage.
I put my hand around her mouth gently and she awakens, startled.
"Mmm?!"
"Shush! Be quiet! I'm here to help you!" I say in a gentle tone.
The girl struggles a little, but once she gets used to the darkness and gets a look at me, she visibly relaxes and nods her head.
I remove my hand from her mouth and start ripping off the chains restraining her.
I hear her sniffing the air.
"... Y-you're not someone I recognize... Who are you?"
"You're not surprised by how I look?"
"...Huh? Why would I be? The Beastkin are treated with respect... are you not from Primum?"
Primum? Isn't that the name of the Beastkin Empire? And why is she referring to me as a beastkin as if she isn't one too?
"Uh... Let's just get you out of here, then we can continue talking..."
"...Yeah."
I finish removing her chains and I carry her in one arm close to me while she wraps her arms around my neck.
I can feel her breathe in strongly, smelling my scent. I can feel her relax more as she does so.
Using my claws to attach myself to the wall of the warehouse, I scale up to the skylight and exit the building the way I came.
I could've done that outside coming in, but it would've made too much noise.
I look over the front yard and I can see a guard heading to the door.
He's gonna see the results of my battle. I have to leave now.
I put the girl down and transform once again into my Direwolf form. I've already felt the strain this form put on my body, so transforming again is starting to hurt real bad. Even my cheek started bleeding again.
The girl gasps in surprise and I can smell her excitement.
Before she said anything, I told her to get on my back and hold on tightly.
"Y-yes!!"
I increase my size to an elephant in order to jump further to clear the yard and pass the front gates.
I run a few feet and immediately reach full speed. I jump with all my strength and clear the yard and the gate, landing on a roof of what looks like a shop a few buildings away.
Wow. I'll have to remind myself to test my limits when I'm in this form. Too bad it hurts after staying like this for a while.
"Alright, you can get off now, girl."
"Yes, S-Sir!"
What's with her? She's acting all excited for some reason.
The girl gets off of me and I transform back into a werewolf. Ah, my body doesn't hurt anymore.
I pick up the girl and head back to the Inn.
===============
MC is badass.
His current strength is that of a pinnacle Rank A adventurer, which is pretty strong. There are, of course, gonna be many monsters and characters that are stronger than Rank A or even as strong as S.
The only characters we've seen stronger than him are Guild Master Abe, who was Rank S, and his mother, who was Rank A but retired after she gave birth, therefore never officially reaching Rank S. His Father is the strongest out of the characters we've seen, excluding The Creator God.
