Chapter 103 - "it’s all just for conquest and greed."

Yes, Brian Ryhem is the boy I'm talking about. He's almost exactly my. The age. We're only a month and a half apart. I got up and told the head maid where I was going. "You're returning?" "Yes, I am." "Okay, I'll let the queen know in the meantime."

I walked towards my window, looked out of it to Ljos city, then simply jumped off. Feeling the wind on my face, I landed on the ground and walked normally out of the gates. The guards stationed at the gates didn't have any sort of reaction, just like they were trained.

As soon as I walked through both of the gates, they gave me quick glances and returned to a cold stare out. I then walked calmly to the Relix academy building. I walked in with my student ID. It was the middle of the night, so of course, it'd have to wait until the next morning.

So, putting an end to the night, I walked to my dorm. My roommate was confused. And walked up to the door, hearing it open, wiping her eyes. Rachel greeted me with a yawn. "It's been a while. How are you doing?" She said, leaning on a wall in the room.

"So, you going to let me in?" I said, rolling my eyes. "Sure, come back after years in the middle of the night and just let you in." She stood to the side with her hands in a go-in kind of gesture. I walked in. With light blonde hair said, with streaks of blue in her hair. Pale skin, dark cherry red lips, and eyes alight with gray eye color.

That's Rachel's description. She was also very bold. I could feel her eyes tracking me. I turned around and bit my lip softly. She had her finger on her lips. With a smile on her face.

Closing the door behind us, I went to my room. "You didn't do anything to my room, did you?" "Maybe." I walked into my room and there were women plastered all around with purple pink and a dark cherry red lipstick on.

I don't particularly hate it. In fact, I kind of like it. "Hm." "Goodnight." I plopped onto my bed and closed my eyes. "Sweet dreams." Rachel said, before closing my door.

I fell asleep immediately.

…Two days before Sapphire leaves.

I woke up and looked in my drawer. All of my clothes are in here, but they are way too small. So I grabbed a shirt and made it look like a crop top, then put on some jeans. I walked out of my room and Rachel whistled. "Wow! Stunning."

She walked over to me. "With those deep blue eyes, olive skin, and cute yet mature face." "You're quite the beauty." She said flirtatiously. "Whatever, Rachel, just get on with your day. I'm looking for someone."

"Roughly 5'10 gorgeous blonde hair, strikingly beautiful green eyes, pink perfectly shaped lips, and skin milky and perfect?" She said with a dreamy look on her face. "Oh, my god!" I said practically screeching. "You have a crush!" "On a guy!" I said, freaking out. "What. did you think I was gay?"

She said, laughing hard. "Yes. Yes, I did." I replied deadpan, "Maybe I should stop with the jokes if I am joking." She muttered quietly under her breath, "So, do you know where he is?" "Well, when I was about to leave the waiting room I saw him turn white after talking to some kid and run towards the infirmary."

"That was yesterday, so I'd recommended checking there first, then his dorm room." "Thanks," I said, leaving out the door. I ran to the infirmary in a rush and entered. Doctor Joy looked at me, confused, seeing as I wasn't hurt. "Here to visit someone?" "No, I'm looking for Brian." "No, I'm looking for Brian Ryhem? Blon-"

"He's over here, room six." She said, rolling around her chair. "Thank you," I said, then walked over to the room doctor Joy said he was in. I heard laughter from outside of the room. I pushed the curtain lightly. To see him holding Sapphire's hand, she had grown to be beautiful.

Amazingly beautiful blue eyes that were entrancingly sparkling and showing every color and shade of blue I could think of. She had milky white, pale skin and nice pink lips. She looked a lot better than the last time I had seen her.

"Oh, hello." Sapphire waved kindly. And Brian was simply and perfectly pretty. I felt like I was falling into his beautiful green eyes, complemented amazingly by his blonde hair, without a single imperfection to him. "So is this visit random or…" Brian started.

"No, I need to talk to you, Brian, about something very serious," I spoke intensely. I led him outside of the door. "What?" He said in an annoyed tone. "About this war." "Yeah, what about it?" I took a deep breath, trying to make sure my voice wasn't cracking intensely.

"You see, the truth about this war is that it's all just for conquest greed and to wage a war for no reason. All its contribution is just another property or land for nobles to buy up. And my mother and father are willing to go and sacrifice millions of lives and millions more just for this dumb stupid f****** war." My voice started cracking.

"That will contribute nothing but strife, more greed, and a generation raised completely only knowing war and conflict. "My voice started turning into more of a sob." Children who will never know what their parents or brothers or sisters will look like and have only one concern of revenge, hate, and greed."

I turned away. "Okay, saying all of that makes it sound really, really, really, bad." He said Brain had been wincing throughout every point I had made. "That's because it is." He didn't seem that fazed. "Why do I feel like you're taking this as a F****** JOKE!"

I practically yelled. I turned around. I had lost my composure. Well, I'm throwing away professionalism and composure. "I'm sorry, do you need a moment?" "No!" "I don't need a moment. I need you to listen, not just hear!" I was still yelling. "Listen, I've thought about it. My grandfather hates the idea of the war."

"I do too. But here's the thing: I would use my political power to protest it but my sister seems to be on board, which makes all of my power invalids as she is higher in the hierarchy, so it's really not up to me." I nodded. If he can't help me, who can?

"I'm sorry." I closed my eyes and calmed down. "May I join you in visiting Sapphire?" "I mean sure she'd probably be glad to see you as long as you made a good first impression." He said politely.

I walked forward and looked through the curtain. She was in a hospital gown. I waved. "How's it going, Love?" she said, waving back. "Good, I just have a question. What do you think about the w-" Brian grabbed my shoulder. And whispered into my ear, "Don't yell at her. She's in the hospital."

"Wasn't planning on doing that." I responded in a whisper. "Oh, the war?" "I hate it I hate everything about it and everything it stands for but I'm still going to go fight because. It's. Just. Not. Up. To. Me." Sapphire said disheartened.

"You realize this war is for greed and bloodshed?" I said calmly. "The new generation will only know conflict strife and war." "And they won't see some of their older brothers or older sisters."

Sapphire…

Right as she said that sentence, it hit me. What if I don't come back and Ether is left all alone? What if I die? I clutched my necklace. It's just not up to me. I'd been comforting myself with that thought I'd get charged with treason and deserting if I just left and didn't go.

All of a sudden I'm afraid of death. My mortality seems right there and so plain.

I'm just a chess piece in this war.

"I understand, but why are you teldling me this?" I asked her confused on the purpose. She thought for a second with her hand on her chin. "I just hoped you understood this war." She turned around and began leaving out.

"Are you going to stay?" "I don't see why not?" She said, opening the door. "Goodbye Sapphire." "Goodbye Love." Hopefully not for the last time.
