A couple months after the Spring Prefecture Tournament, there would be a meeting called by the Head Coach. At the time I had assumed that it was some sort of party that every club did near the end of school, however when I arrived, the aura felt different. Instead of a chill vibe, that'd you get from any other party, instead it was an aura of excitement and hunger. Which made me intrigued.
I would sit down and a few more of the team members would finally arrive and sit down and the meeting would begin.
"I'm going to say this uptight. The National Tournament has been cancelled, BUT we just got an invitation by the KVBA. To go to a tournament where the Top 100 Teams will compete in a major tournament, and the best players will form a team and will play for the 17u Olympic Team and will be guaranteed a spot for all of the Korean Teams for as long as you preform. So now, the assistant coach will pass out permission slips and flyers for you all to take home to your parents. We leave in 4 weeks, which means we got 4 weeks to prepare for this tournament, so expect a week long practice schedule. We'll be arriving as underdogs, but don't fear, as long as we preform, we'll be fine."
Coach Yun would state, in a semi excited tone. It was obvious he was trying to stay professional but he couldn't contain his excitement, as the athletes could tell by his body language. Who could blame him? We just got an Invitation to take part in one of the largest tournament in the Nation, however something about the flyer seemed… off. It seemed to have a enigmatic feel to it. The name seemed off aswell… TruAce? Whyd they pick that name? Usually whenever a team refers to someone as an "Ace" they're usually a key piece to a team's offense or defense, that if they weren't on the team, they'd fold, sorta like cards. So what do they mean by a "True Ace?" Maybe they could be building a te-
"Everything okay Asuka?"
Cho Moon, our 2nd year manager, would ask as she saw me starting to space out
"Huh- oh yeah I'm fine. Just thinking ya know?"
I would say back, trying to convince her aswell as myself that I was okay. She would look a little puzzle and would say,
"Uhm… Okay, just checking you seemed kinda worried, did you leave the oven on at home or something?"
"Nahhhh, I promise I'm fine. What about you? Everything okay with you?"
I replied as I put my hand behind my head, smirking as I do so. She would nod softly as she continued looking into my eyes, before leaving and going to sit with the other manager. I would exhale and the meeting would continue. After the meeting everyone would part ways, leaving the 4 weeks of training and soon, the arrival of the tournament.
