Chapter 1 - chapter 1

The only thing visible was a watch on the nightstand. red numbers softly glowing, told any that would see them it was 2:59 am. if any had cared to look in that small Crimson hearth, the arms of the watch collaborated the hour perfectly. just as the two longtime friends agreed it was a new hour Jacob caused the age old process to begin at last. perhaps if he had waited another hour things would have been different.

"Honey, honey wake up" Dolores urged her dear husband "HONEY!!!" she said again voice growing more urgent. contractions were persisting and growing shorter in between, it was finally time the moment she and her husband Richard had been waiting so long for was finally here. waiting every month, hoping and praying to miss her period had been so hard and frustrating. three years of hopes and dreams, fights and tears had caused desperation to set in. after one very tearful night an appointment had been scheduled with Doctor Caballes to determine the problem. one short interview and a few test later it was determined that Richard simply needed to lose weight, and a year after that Dolores skipped her period. afraid it was just late again she hadn't mention it to her sweet husband until a second month had gone by without so much as a drop of blood.

in the baby section of their local grocery store Dolores had told him "im pregnant" face beaming with joy and triumph. Richard had stood in the isle staring blankly at his wife for a solid a minute, shocked and amazed, then his lips turned up at the corners and started opening to reveal the biggest smile Dolores had seen in such a long time. "woo yeah" Richard had shouted so loud that store security came to check on things. a brief, joyful explanation set security at ease and all involved celebrated for a moment in the now packed isle. Dolores couldn't help but smile everytime the memory surfaced. a treasured moment in time that Dolores kept always close to her heart.
