We were back to school again. Turned out, the Christmas holiday didn't turn out so bad afterall. Well, Mom was still with Dennis, that part was bad but then my dad was happy more often. He had hope rising just like I did since Dave Smith promised to help out.
As I sat before the Principal, I wasn't so scared, surprisingly.
"I'm sorry it's taking long, Mr Patel." He said. "But we need their presence too."
He was referring to Ava and Asher. I nodded. "It's okay, Sir."
He smiled and before he could reply, there was a knock on the door.
"Come in." He said.
Ava and Asher walked in laughing. I shook my head in disgust. They were so good at pretending that they were a perfect couple.
"You both are late." The Principal said.
"We had some business to attend to." Asher spatted the words unapologetically.
"Which were more important than the Principal's call?" The Principal said.
"At least we're here." He said and sat.
I was amazed at Asher's rudeness. It was very impolite of him to talk in that manner.
"Well..." The Principal said. "Back to the reason I called for you."
"Right." Asher said.
"As you three are aware, the Brains Quiz competition is most important for us here at Westfield Academy." He said. "If we win, it gives us a chance to become international. We get students from all part of the world because everyone will know how competent our system is."
"So, this is all about the school?" Asher said. "We don't get any benefits. Do you guys even care about us at all?"
"Mr Le Beau, I'd appreciate if you let me speak." The Principal said. Asher stopped talking. "As I was saying, Westfield Academy is counting on you three." He paused. "We need you three to put in your best efforts to ensure the honor of Westfield Academy and yourselves as individuals." He said. "Any questions?" There was silence in the room. His gaze was fixed on Asher. "I didn't think so." He said. "Thanks for coming. That would be all for now. Any update will be related to you as frequently as they come."
I was the last to leave the room. I didn't want to give Asher reasons to stir up trouble.
"You were supposed to support me." I heard Asher yell.
"I'm not as bold as you are." Ava's voice rang out. "I can't be rude to School Authority. That'd be so uncool of me, don't you think?"
I saw him yank her hair. Hard..
"Asher... " She said. "You're hurting me."
"Shut up!" He yelled again. "Next time you talk back at me, you'll pay. Do you understand?"
"Yes!"
I turned around quickly. I wondered why Asher treated Ava like that's.
I rushed to the cafeteria.
"Hey guys!" I said sitting.
"Hi!" They chorused.
"It's nice to see you again, Leo." Chelsea said.
I smiled. "I'm glad to see you as well."
We chatted for a while before the bell rang.
"We have to go!" Chelsea said. "We'll see you guys around."
We watched as they left. "So which one of them is your Juliet, Romeo?
I punched him lightly. "Shut up!"
