Chapter 6 - First meeting with the enemy

Jiraiya still had access to only a small part of the knowledge of his past life and therefore pretty much behaved like a normal baby. The only difference is that he is much calmer than a normal infant and that sometimes it seems like he is thinking about complex things. But the first difference was still within normal behavior. After all each child behaves different. Where as the second difference seemed to unrealistic to be true. So everyone thought of him as a normal child.

He was born in a quite wealty family. Eventhough their wealth isn't outstanding. Also the friendship between Iroh, the head of the family and Jiraiya's father, and Sozin, the Fire lord, increased the poltical influence of their family by a lot. But still they had an quite modest lifestyle and mindset. This is one of the reason why Sozin liked them so much, because they are unlike the members of his council and many other people.

As soon as it was possible Sozin visited his friend in order to congratulate him for the birth of his son. His joy however was dimmed by hos guards, they didn't want to leave his side. So he had made a compromise. They would guard him on his way to his friend, but they would wait outside the house. So he could have at least some privacy there. When he entered their house, his friend welcommed him joyfuly. "It's good to see you. I would have visited you but you are always busy running a nation." "I would have been able to share some time with a friend." "Well to be honest, I don't like the people, who surround you there like flies. I am actually quite surprised, that no fly followed you here." Iroh said with a smile on his face, which indicated that he wasn't really serious. But in his statements were still little pieces of truth hidden. However the last statement made Sozin laugh. "You have no idea. I had to threaten my guards with decapitating them otherwise they would never let me enter someone's house alone." "Well I'm happy that you didn't have to beheade them. After all they just do their job." "I know, I know. It's still annoying. But let's forget about them. I want to see the little one. After all he is much more important." At this sentence Iroh had to chukle, because Sozin wasn't the only guest today. "Then follow me. I will show you him."

They went straight to the living room. There were three person sitting. Two of course were the little Jiraiya and Iroh's wife Kiyi. The presence of the third person however left Sozin speechless. This person was no one else than Roku, the current Avatar. "We didn't see each other for a long time. So i can understand that you are surprised to see me here." Roku said with a smile on his face. After all their meeting here was just a coincidence. "A surprise to be sure. But a welcome one." Sozin answered after he regained the ability to speak. The three friends were unable to meet for a long time. Sozin was busy running the Fire nation, Roku had his job as an Avatar to fulfil and Iroh had to take care of his family. Tough they really liked each other, they them to have only time to meet on special occasions. But even then they could spend hardly any time together. Even more rarer and sacered are the moments they could share in privacy like this time.

"Well Kiyi, isn't this astonishing." Iroh asked with amusement. "What do you mean dear?" "Isn't it obvious? The Avatar and the Fire lord gathered here just to meet a kid. How important will your son get, when he grows up?" "Well I think you will need a biger house by then, because of the many important people you will have to host by then. They will come from any direction and from any nation just to see him." Sozin continued the idea with sincere expression on his face. This caused all of them to burst out in laughter. Even the little Jiraiya smiled and giggled, not because he understood what was going on, but rather because of the happy mood of everyone around him.

"I wonder how you decided for the name Jiraiya. After all it's a rather unusal name." Sozin asked the question, which bothered him since he heared the name from the messenger. "Well one day the name just popped up in our minds. So when we talked about it and realized, that we have the same strange name in our mind. We decided that it was fate and that he should be called Jiraiya." "Oh. I didn't expect that you came up with his name through such an unusal way." Avatar Roku answered. He woundered if this boy has a special fate or if it was just a coincidence, that they came up with the name in such an manner.

If Roku had progressed more in his training as an Avatar, than he would have been able to feel a strange energy emitting from that boy. If Roku felt that enery, than he would have knew, that the fate of this young man is rather extraordinary. But he hadn't progressed so much. After all he didn't even master the Avatar state completly by now.

"Eventhough it was wounderfull to see you again and I wish I could stay longer. I have to leave now and return to master Kaja [the Fire Sage, who trains him]." "What already?" Iroh and Sozin asked with a sad/annoyed expression on their faces. "I'm sorry. But I really have to master the Avatar state and then continue to travel around the nations in order to learn every element." "Before you leave, I would like to beg you for a favor." Sozin said seriously. "What is it? If I can fulfil it, than I will certainly do it" "You know that I always wanted to improve our world through technology. But I don't know how to do it. So if you stumble upon a solution, please tell me." "This is an easy question. I will certainly do so. So don't worry. If the Avatar and the Fire lord combine their powers, nothing can stop them. So we will be able to fulfil your dream."

With this words Roku departed from the other. He jumped upon his dragon, which slumbered in the garden during their meeting, and flew away. Soon afterwards Sozin had to return also. After all he is the Fire lord and has a lot of things to do. And he feared that his guards might go crazy and storm in. It would be quite bad if he really had to behead them.
