The training session ended two matches after mine and with the other school, Silverwood high taking the lead. Mrs Williams pointed out that though one school may be leading the final battle would be the one to decide it all. That sounded good to me since I knew perfectly well that I would make to the Finals without any trouble. That of course, was unless someone decided to play dirty and resort to unsavory tactics of eliminating me.
I drove Ari home via my new motorcycle which had been given to me by a hunter representative since my old one got trashed by a berserker. Berserkers were bear sized bests which were incredibly strong and incredibly fast too. They weren't to capture let alone kill. This particular berserker was extremely violent and I ended up having to lure into a trap to be able to kill.
After dropping Ari off I rode home and arriving a few minutes past six I went on and set to make myself some dinner. Since I lived alone I ate a lot of fast food and once in a while I made my own food. I was a pretty good cook though sometimes my food tasted like crap.
I can't even remember how many times Ari had come over to make me dinner after dropping her off. I made some spaghetti and meatballs and settled down to eat. This time I got the timing right and the texture was incredible. This was probably the best spaghetti I'd ever made in my whole life. I was half way through when I got a call. Picking up my phone I noticed the caller ID was my current operation commander. She was in charge of all the missions I went on and was also responsible for sending back up or telling me when to get the hell out of a place that would definitely get me killed. I answered a bit pissed off, " Hey Trisha what's up",
" Am I disturbing you Kai. Because there are some people who need your help. And you know I'm not asking", Trisha said rudely. Rolling my eyes, I replied " No you're not. What's the situation?", I asked.
" You know angel high? ", She asked
" Yeah why? ", I replied not liking where this was going.
" Some morons ressurected a zombie as a prank but like most morons forgot a contract and because of that they're getting murdered", Trisha said sadly but not of actual sadness. It was actually out of pity for the situation.
" Ya know, it's bad enough we're fighting a war that's at a stalemate but it doesn't help matters when people sidetrack us with this kind of bullshit", I replied annoyed, " Look at the raid in Hawaii. We lost some decent amount of hunters there and it's not like we're recruiting that fast either",
I could hear Trisha give a laugh that didn't have any humour in it. That was really annoying sometimes. Then again I didn't have a choice but to go to angel high and take care of the zombie. The ones he'd killed would be revived as zombies themselves and that would create more problems. I put down the fork as I cut the call. Standing up I moved upstairs to my bedroom and opened up a special closet locked by a bio scanner. Placing my left palm on it it slid open and I was bathed in bright blue fluorescent lights. I stared at the arsenal before me. I grabbed my katana and twin daggers. I tucked the daggers into my side holders and slung the katana over my shoulder. I grabbed a pistol and some extra ammo just in case things had gone too far south already. I moved back downstairs and out to the garage where my bike was waiting. " And to think I'd have a peaceful evening", I said to myself as I got on the bike. I shoved the key into the ignition and revving the engine like a mad man I drove out of the open garage door like a bullet.
Angel high was about an hour from my place. I put the pedal to the metal and weaved around cars and trucks as I rode like a mad man. I had manged to grab my Anubis mask to disguise my real Identity. Though most people at my school knew I was a hunter that was as far as it went. Almost no one outside my school was aware that I was a hunter and because of that I had to keep it that way. I checked the timer I had set for myself and realized that I wouldn't make it in time to stop things from going south. There was only one thing I could do. I had to use magic to create a portal that would send me straight to angel high.
As I rode I raised one hand in front of me, a magic circle appearing on my hand.
" Gate", I said calmly. A portal opened up a few mertres ahead of me. I zoomed right through like a rocket and nearly crashed into a pillar. I floored the breaks and spun in a complete one-eighty degree spin.
Honestly Angel high looked like a freaking house of horrors than a school. The windows were covered in blood and a bits of guts. Talk about things going south. From the look of things it didn't seem like anyone had survived. However I couldn't jump to conclusions. It had taken me about thirty minutea to get here. I was sure at least one person was still alive in there.
At least one.
I got off the bike and pulling out my fully loaded pistol with my right hand and pulling out a dagger with my left hand, I cocked the pistol and walked up to the doors as I pulled on my Anubis mask.
I walked up the bloody stairs and up to the gate. It was disgusting honestly but then again we were talking zombies.
They weren't the clean type.
Taking a deep breath I burst through the doors rolling on my back as a bony hand came at me savagely. I whirled around and fired a quick shot to it's head. The zombie hissed and fell lifelessly. Immediately A group of zombies came at me from different directions. I fired at them until they got to close.
Grabbing a zombies arm I twisted it around another firing a shot into both their skulls at the same time as their heads aligned at just the right time. Another zombie grabbed me by my shoulder and pulled me backwards savagely. I twisted around simultaneously taking its arm with me. Using the hand like a whip I smacked it's head clean in two between the eyes. I swung it backwards and shoved it into th skull of another. It don't take me long to take care of the others and by the time I was done I was covered in blood.
I was happy I was wearing a mask. I moved on through the hallway picking off zombies one by one. I wondered if I should contact Trisha about the whereabouts of the survivors but thought better of it. She wouldn't be able to track them with the way things were looking.
I tapped my earphones once to signal her anyway.
No reply.
I tapped them again.
No reply.
I frowned, confused as to what the heck was going on. It seemed that something was jamming communications and pretty bad too since I couldn't even hear static.
I moved on, still tapping my earphones every few minutes too see if I could reach Trisha and get some help in finding the survivors. Moving down the hallway the stench of corpses and blood started to get stronger. I didn't know how many people had been turned into undead but the the whole thing would've started int the auditorium. And that was where our patient zero or first zombie would be.
