Chapter 5 - Chapter 4: A slight relief

After all those fucking hours I finally got to wake up. My goddamn body feels like it's exploding. I had to control the urge to fling myself out of the goddamn window. But even now, especially due to the pain, I could barely move. Exasperated, I just try to let my mind wander away from it all.

I really want to see what the outside looks like. I want to know what kind of things lie out there, instead I'm completely stuck in my bed. Doing nothing and only being used as a tool by people I don't know, or maybe even being unable to do that...

Would I simply be killed at that point? They sure looked like they wanted to! Do I even have anybody here with goodwill toward me?

When I thought that, as if on cue, a young, tall woman, came in the room. With short, near black hair, a light tan, a well developed body and dressed in a maid outfit, she reminded me a little of a person I knew years back, when I was still in middle school. It made me feel somewhat comforted to notice that, alongside the fact that this person is the first one I've seen not looking at me like they are planning 50 different ways to eradicate me from existence. Sure, the demenor was only neutral, her lips not curving either up or down, but that is already a blessing at this time.

She set a plate of food on the cabinet beside me. I tried to speak to say thanks, but no words came out once again.

"It is only my duty, young master." However, she still responded to it, showing that she is still paying attention whenever I try to speak.

I gave a smile, and gestured with my lips again, asking when the doctor is coming. What I was told was that he had already come by, when I was still stuck in my own head. But the doctor couldn't do much except reduce the swelling a bit, by leaking out some of the expired mana out of my body. That's what the blue stuff is apparently.

I also told her that'd I'd like some way to reduce the pain, and some way that she could help me get some fresh air outside. She told me she couldn't help much with that, but opened the curtains and windows for me.

"Is there anything else you want to request my help with?" she asked while she came over to my bed again, focussing her eyes on any movement coming from my lips. I asked her a question she clearly didn't expect.

"How many enemies do I have?"
