Chapter 3 - A Scuffle in the Woods

After a bit of wandering around, I found a couple of wolves. Both of the wolves had blue spots and markings all over their bodies, but one of the wolves were bigger than the other. The bigger one had a huge red scar that went diagonally across its face. I'm assuming that they're my enemies because they have red health bars above their head as opposed to my green health bar.

Speaking of their health bars, I noticed that they were extremely low. This is my chance to get the drop on them and get easy XP.

I ran up and tried kicking one of them, but the first one dodged and text appeared in front of me saying "ENTERING COMBAT!"

At the bottom of my vision, there was a long bar with a bunch of empty boxes except for one that I began to notice. The one box that was occupied had a small picture of a man doing an upward swinging motion with his hand. In front of that man were three vertical, ragged arcs of light. This must be a special attack or something.

As I was preparing to use the move, I wasn't paying attention to one of the wolves. One of the wolves bit my heel and caused me to get on one knee in pain. Before I had any time to react, the wolf that dodged my first attack came lunging at me.

I had no other option, so I decided to use the special attack given to me. I mimicked the attack in the picture to a tee and the result were those same ragged arcs of light. The wolf went flying into a tree and lost most of his HP. With the HP he lost, I felt a new sense of vigor and kicked the other wolf off of my leg. Once he was off, I tried to do the move again, but it wouldn't come out. I quickly glanced at the little picture and saw that it was darkened and had a timer on it that said "6S."

Guess I can't use that for a bit. No matter. I ran up to the lower HP wolf and kicked it. Its HP reached zero and the wolf bursted into thousands of tiny red crystals that rose into the air and disappeared. The only thing that was left of it was a tiny red crystal that dropped to the floor.

Wanting to avenge his fallen comrade, the other wolf lunged at me. I dodged the attack and launched a counterattack by punching it in its jaw. Once it landed and recovered from my hit, it came at me again. I bobbed and weaved the wolf's attack until the timer for my move was finished.

"HAAH!"

As I did the move, the arcs of light went flying towards the wolf and hit it dead on. The damage dealt was little to nothing. This wolf was way more durable than the other one! Then again, the other one was way more weakened.

The wolf lunged at me and bit deep into my shoulder. As he tackled me to the ground, I looked over to my health bar and noticed a rapid decrease. I expected it to be a challenge because they're way more leveled than me, but this is outrageous!

My shoulder is feels like it's about to be torn off! I'm ACTUALLY feeling this pain! And at this rate, I'm going to die! This is it! The rush I've been chasing! Who's going to die first?! Me, or this beast?!

As the wolf attempted to tear my arm off, blood spilling with each shake it gave my muscle, I clawed and beat the wolf. For every five percent of HP I take from it, the wolf takes 20 percent from mine. Every point of HP counts and my passive skill of healing the damage I deal is surely helping.

With all my might, I fought against the force that the wolf was using to keep me pinned. As I finally stood to my feet, I ran the wolf into a nearby tree.

Thankfully, it was just enough to kill it. His bar went to zero and just like the other one, he exploded into tiny red crystals. This one however, left a blue crystal.

I picked up the blue crystal and examined it. Once I did so, a window appeared that showed me the contents of a crystal. Apparently, this crystal had an axe.

I tapped on the picture of the axe and another window layered over the crystal window and had a bunch of options. My eyes immediately darted to the equip option and once I pressed it, the axe I was just looking at appeared on my back. I took it off my back and into my hands. It was small enough to be used as a one-handed weapon but just big enough to be used as a two-handed weapon.

"This is gonna take some getting used to, but it'll do." I said as I holstered my new weapon.

Next up was the red crystal. As I picked it up and examined it, a window popped up showing a rough-looking set of white heavy armor that had countless of sharp and rough edges. This looks like something a demon general would wear.

I like it.

The item was called "Potenshia." Even a gaming novice like me could tell that this was a good item. As I took a look at the description for the armor, I noticed that it had a specific feature that made the fight worth it.

[Potenshia is the armor of the demon Blacksmith Zenoa. It has the ability of everlasting possibility. Based on the wearer's level, the armor will become stronger. It grows with the user. If the user perishes however, the armor will too.]

"An armor set that gets stronger as you level up, huh? This armor is freaking amazing!"

I equipped it and once I did, the armor instantly appeared on me. I gave a little twirl and looked around the outfit I was wearing to see how it looked on me.

"Not bad…" I said as I gave a nod of approval.

Now that that's over with, it's time to do some monster hunting! I spent the next couple of hours killing low level monsters. I ended up leveling to level three, but I didn't really get any cool items like in that first fight. The rarity of items must be color-coded because I haven't come across another red crystal, but I came across a lot of blue ones.

I also took the time to practice my strategy when attacking monsters. All monsters have weak points. It's best to look for those weak points and attack them there. The only way I was able to find the weak spot was to do a specific amount of damage to certain parts of the body. Whichever part yielded the most damage was what I considered a weak spot.

After a while, I began to get bored, so I started walking back to the kingdom. On my way, I heard a voice call out to me from behind. As I turned around, I saw what looked like a priest class hero and a Repeller class hero approach me. From the distance I could see their health bars, but as I squinted a bit harder, I noticed their levels. They were both level ten heroes. It's quite suspicious that level ten heroes are in such an easy area.

I can feel it! Something exciting is about to happen!
