"Have you been waiting for long?" the man in the dark blue shirt sat in front of Anjani Nathania.
"Not yet." Jani smiled happily because after waiting for more than an hour Dana finally showed up.
"I'm sorry, I took Reyna to check her pregnancy at the hospital first."
Dana said those words with a casual look. Jani? Do not ask. Her heart felt like it was being squeezed, her chest constricted and her throat constricted. She's here to meet Dana. She wanted to chat with her girlfriend. She needs support. Yes, Jani will be honest with Dana about Arga. However, Jani seems to be in the wrong place. Dana can not be used as a place to go home. Dana cannot be a place to complain. Dana is still the yesterday's Dana. Full of instability and also always hurt her heart.
Exhaling through the mouth, because Jani's chest was still tight and the tears seemed to be eager to squeeze out. Jani didn't answer Dana's sentence, she just smiled faintly with her hands intertwined under the table.
"Why? You must be sick?" Dana looked at Jani curiously.
"No, just a little tired." Jani forced a smile.
"Oh thank goodness, your eyes are red, your face is pale and you also seem uncomfortable."
"I'm okay, Dan," Jani answered quickly.
Dana nodded in understanding. "Can I do something? What do you want to eat?" Dana volunteered.
Jani couldn't understand why Dana made her sad and flattered at the same time and place. "I want a burger with extra cheese," Jani answered like a child.
"Okay, wait here then." Dana chuckled and headed straight for the kitchen to make Jani's order.
Jani had been waiting for Dana there for more than an hour. She only ordered a greentea latte without any snacks. She wanted to know if Dana would care about her by offering her food or not.
Jani gazed into the garden outside the cafe window. A cell phone blared from above the table. Jani just realized that Dana's cell phone was left behind. After looking in all directions to make sure it was safe, Jani took Dana's cell phone. See who's calling Dana. The name 'My Love' appeared on Dana's cellphone screen. Jani picked up the phone with slightly shaking hands.
"Honey, don't come home late tonight, okay? I've made dinner for both of us at my apartment."
Jani is stunned.
"Hello? Dear?"
"He… Hello?" Jani spoke up.
"Hello, sorry who is this? Where's Dana?"
"I… i… Erm!" Jani cleared her throat to relieve her nervousness. "I'm Dana's girlfriend, he's in the kitchen."
"What? Do not be crazy! Where's Dana?!" Reyna's voice on the other side sounded emotional but Jani didn't answer anything. "Where are you?!" Jani still didn't make a sound. "You are a seductive woman! Are you flirting with Dana?"
Jani's brow furrowed. "Teasing Dana?"
"Yeah, you teased him right? Dana is always loyal, he won't want it if you don't tease him first!" Reyna's voice still sounded very emotional.
"Jani?" Jani was taken aback when Dana's voice interrupted her.
Her hands trembled as Dana roughly placed the plate of burgers on the table.
"Dana?" Dana didn't say anything.
His eyes looked displeased. Then with one tug, Dana took his cell phone from Jani's hand.Dana saw who was calling.
The man cursed. "Shit!" Dana is seen holding his phone to his ear. "Hello Rey?"
Jani was silent. She was confused what to do.
"I'm sorry." Jani tried to start a conversation when Dana didn't seem to get a response from Reyna over the phone.
Dana seemed to pocket his cellphone then sighed tiredly.
"What did you say?" Dana looked at Jani with a look that Jani herself was confused about.
Like anger mixed with worry.
"I… I said…" Jani moistened her lips. "I said that I'm you girlfriend when she asked where you are and who I am." Jani squeezed the hem of the shirt she was wearing.
"Oh my." Dana looked at Jani with a look of complete disappointment. "Please don't repeat it, you are being rude because you casually received a call that was clearly from my cell phone. And for Reyna's problem, please Jani let me solve everything by myself. You don't interfere." After saying those words, Dana left without saying goodbye to Jani.
In her chair, Jani looked at Dana who had left her for the umpteenth time for Reyna. Jani was silent, as if there were thousands of daggers lodged in her chest. It hurt when she tried to breathe. Tears started to well up in her eyes and she roughly wiped them away. She patted her tight chest. "You're all right, Jani." She tried to calm herself down.
Jani began to eat her food with a broken heart, for some reason the delicious-looking food tasted bland in her mouth. She ate in a hurry. It was like swallowing a boulder every time she swallowed Dana's burger. Every now and then Jani wipes her tears that still come out without being asked. After she finished it she went to the cashier to pay for all her orders and rushed home riding her motorcycle.
On the street, Jani cried loudly. Her eyes darkened with tears. She didn't know where she was going. She's been riding her motorbike for half an hour and criss-crossing the streets at night. The chill that pierced the skin she didn't care about. The night wind seemed to be whispering incantations. 'Cry Jani, let your heart and soul feel light like cotton that runs in the wind.'
Drop by drop water fell from the sky. Jani still hasn't decided to go back to her boarding house. The night sky looks gloomy. Lightning roared furiously and signaled everyone to seek shelter. But Jani was stubborn. She didn't want to listen to anyone this time. She was still constantly shedding tears of deep sadness from her eyes that already looked glazed and tired.
Her body was drenched. Her lips trembled violently from the piercing cold. Jani decided to go home. She rode her motorbike at a fairly high speed. Her brain is a mess and she just wants to get to her boarding house as quickly as possible.
Her eyes were a little blurry because of the wetness and the slippery road, a combination that succeeded in making Jani slip on the paved road not far from her boarding house. Jani had a single accident that night. Her body was dragged as far as 5 meters from her motorbike. The streets were empty which still made her grateful that no vehicle could hit her. Jani looked up at the night sky which was still drizzling. Her position was supine with her back which gradually felt hot from rubbing against the asphalt.
Moments later, people heard voices calling for help. Faint like a dream. Her eyes were heavy and her consciousness began to decline. the sound of people screaming could be heard getting farther and farther away. Jani closed her eyes like a sleeping baby.
Jani was taken to the nearest hospital from there. The doctor on duty in the ER seemed to immediately take action on Jani. No family has come yet because Jani's identity card was left in the other wallet. While her cell phone was low since she was in Green Trees earlier. Poor Jani.
