Chapter 9 - An Opportunity

Rose was completely unfocused during the meeting with the Eflic company. The woman kept forming questions in her head. How could the man she'd met drunkenly in The Twilllight, actually be in front of her and co-chaired the meeting and Rose had to depend on that man. Let's not forget the fact that Rose last shouted at him last night outside The Twillight.

She took a deep breath and tried to clear her mind again. Rose's father asked the woman to get a contract with Eflic and this contract is really very important. But, Rose really couldn't understand if she had to meet this man again.

Edward averted his gaze after he finished speaking on behalf of Eflic. The concern that appeared on Rose's face was clear at this moment. However, the man really liked her. Loved how Rose was surprised at him like before. The man did it on purpose just to see how she was in the office but not to worry.

"So what do you think, Miss Brooke?" Edward asked suddenly, managing to make all eyes turn to the worried Rose.

"Damn it!" Rose cursed in a very low voice, but Mia managed to hear it and Rose's secretary had already nudged the woman's arm.

Rose forced a smile on her face this time and looked at Edward. "I think our company is very suitable to work with Eflic. And we really meet that standard. We are ready to work with Eflic for all future projects, Mr. Smith," said Rose with great confidence. Edward was now smiling softly at how Rose had changed the look on her face from being so shocked to being so confident.

"Okay. I'll think about it."

Edward stepped out of the meeting room after he was done with everything. Before actually leaving the company where Rose was, the man was invited to have lunch together in the company cafeteria which was more like a restaurant in Edward's eyes.

As a man who has been in the restaurant business for a long time, everything that is served in front of him is really more like a restaurant than being called a canteen. The man was quite amazed by the interior of the room that looked very expensive for a canteen.

"You tacky," said Rose when she found Edward had stopped and took some pictures of the office cafeteria with his cell phone. Not far the woman had walked, her hand was pulled by Edward's strong hand with ease.

"Everyone saw us. Let go," said Rose very quietly.

"Even you shouted at me without caring about others. Why should you care about something like that now?" Edward asked. Rose tried to let go of Edward's hand that was touching her shoulder but it didn't work at all because the man's strength was much stronger than her.

"Did you get the food I sent you this morning?" Edward asked very gently. He also showed a sweet smile to Rose.

"If I knew you sent it, I would really throw it away. But, I spent it all," said Rose disinterestedly.

"That means you enjoy the food I make. By the way, I will consider this project with your company," Edward said showing his sweet smile.

"Is that true?"

"Of course. But, it's not free, you know," Edward said now in Rose's ear. The woman pushed Edward a little so that no one would think negatively about what the man had done earlier. Rose didn't want any gossip about her and Edward at the office.

"If I have to accompany you to drink again, I won't do it. I hate men who like to intrude on my privacy, let alone touch my cellphone without my permission," said Rose, who refused with certainty.

Mia had just placed her tray of lunch on the table when her eyes caught Rose who had an angry expression on the owner's first son Eflic. The woman felt like the two of them were fighting at the moment and decided to get closer to the two of them.

"Rose, it's time for lunch. Do I need to get you some lunch? Menu as usual?" Mia asked carefully.

Rose looked at Mia then smiled sweetly "Of course you.."

"Miss Brooke will eat with me. Isn't what we talked about not finished yet? I'll have lunch with her," Edward said as he pulled Rose's hand away from Mia. The two are now in a long line to get lunch at the company cafeteria.

"I hope she's okay," Mia muttered quietly after seeing the two people in front of her just walk away to queue for lunch.

"Stop bothering me. I don't even mind if you refuse this project. And stop as if you know me," Rose said softly to Edward who was now in front of her and also waiting in line for lunch.

"I won't, Miss Brooke."

Rose was pulled back by Edward after his tray was filled with his lunch. The man led Rose to a table in the corner of the room. "Let go of me, you don't have to lead me like that," said Rose letting go of Edward's hand that was still holding hers. The woman immediately sat on the chair with an annoyed face.

"I'm sorry about what happened yesterday. I really just wanted to take a photo of you. That's all. Maybe we can get along after that, but all I found was a photo of you with another man. So, I'm sorry," Edward said seriously. Rose looked earnestly at the man and then sighed.

Edward took out his cell phone and typed a message and sent it. "I'll make up for everything to you. So, come to my apartment. We won't end up like we first met. I promise you," Edward said. Rose reads the message containing Edward's apartment password number.

"You know, I'll just give a refusal, right?" asked Rose taking her eyes off her phone. Edward nodded firmly.

"But seeing how eager you are to get this project. I'm sure you'll come," Edward said confidently.

"Okay. I'll come."
