Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

"AAAHHHH!! I'LL BE LATE AGAIN" I scream desperately after looking at the clock and seeing that it's almost 8:45 in the morning.

I get up and quickly get ready, putting on my classic Japanese school uniform - a white sailor's blouse, a moss-green half-short skirt, and a sneaker with knee-length socks.

I run into the bathroom and brush my teeth to get the morning breath out. Afterwards, I go straight to the kitchen. There, I see my mother eating her breakfast: toast on a plate and coffee in a white cup.

She was distracted, reading some kind of cliché novel as she sipped drinks from her cup, barely touching her toast.

I run past, heading towards the door when she notices my presence and calls my attention:

"I told you not to watch shows until late, didn't I?" she stops looking at her book and gives me that disapproving look of hers.

I knew what was coming, but I didn't have time to hear sermons right now.

"Sorry, mom…" I turn to her, staring at the ground in shame.

I expected to hear a sermon or something, but she just takes a deep breath and says, in an eerily serious tone, "When your dad gets home, we'll talk about it."

"Ok..." I say dejectedly

I had already been late for school countless times and my mother had warned that she would tell my father if I was late again. It turns out that my father is extremely strict. In other words, he would ground me for a long time if my mom told him about it.

I turn to leave for school, in less hurry than before, when my mother calls my attention again:

"Aren't you going to eat anything?" she changes her tone from serious to worried.

"Oh no. I have some money here, I'll buy some lunch at school when I get there"

"Hum…" I hear her getting up from her chair.

She takes a few steps to the closet and takes something out of it. Soon, she comes towards me. I turn quickly, curious to see what my mom has taken. She takes my hand and hands me an apple.

"Eat this while you go to school," says my mother, worried.

"Thanks, Mom…" I hug her and thank her for the fruit.

Afterward, I say goodbye and leave the house as quickly as possible.

I run as fast as I can holding the apple in my mouth. My school is about 20 minutes from home. If I go running, I should be there in 15 minutes or less.

*break of time*

As I run, I see a corner. Just turn around to go to school. I run as fast as possible to round the corner. As I do the act, I feel something hit my head. It wasn't weak or anything. It was pretty strong and it hurt like hell.

I drop to my knees and, unintentionally, drop the apple I've been holding in my mouth. Soon, I start whining. Despite being 15 years old, I'm still quite a crybaby. However, I remember I'm late. So, I wipe my tears and get up to see what had hit me.

I look around looking for a joker, but I don't see anyone. I look at the floor and see a sort of golden bracelet with some sapphire details and some pearls.

I head towards the jewel and it quickly jumps onto my wrist, catching on to it. The weirdest thing is that it quickly adjusts to the size of my wrist, which is kind of thin.

"What the fuck!" I try in vain to get it off my wrist. But the harder I but try to get it out, the more trapped she seems to get.

I quit. I'm already super late to get to school. So I start running again and finally make it to school. The building is modern, with some plants at the entrance. At the front, at the entrance, there is a large open-air hallway with some roses decorating the place. It is also possible to see a part of the courtyard where students are at break time.

Then I notice, outside, that some students are sitting on the benches in the garden and others talking about trivial things in the hallway. Finding all this strange, I pull out my cell phone to check the time.

"9:04" - it was break time.

I had missed the first two classes of the day, which was math - my worst subject.

I hurriedly enter through the white wooden gate and go out into the courtyard to wait for the second class bell to ring. Afterward, due to hunger, I go to the cafeteria to buy some snacks - a sandwich and orange juice (my favorite flavor).

I sit down on an empty bench and start eating. The school's food wasn't always the best, but due to hunger, it was like a delicacy of the gods.

As I eat, I hear footsteps coming towards me. I quickly look back and see my friends: Marrie (a black girl with wavy, unnaturally blond hair who loves cute things) and Ella (a naturally tanned girl with straight red hair who loves teen romance books).

Marrie had joy, anxiety, and elation in her eyes; while Ella seemed to be more in control.

I'm curious to know why Marrie was like that, so I ask:

"Did something happen, Marrie?" I ask, arching an eyebrow.

"Hey, Nanda! You won't believe it!!!!" she responds, so anxious that she starts to jump up and down.

"What is happening?" I ask, even more, curious

"Does that singer know that Marrie is a super fan?" now it's Ella's turn to speak. She seems to be being more in control of her feelings.

"Um... The Levi Starfire? What about him?"

"He threw some sort of bracelet on a portal at one of his shows. It's golden and full of precious stones. He even said that whoever takes the jewel first will marry him..." said Ella, replying to me. neutral way, without as much enthusiasm as Marrie.

I freeze for a moment. The description of this bracelet matched perfectly with the description of the jewelry that was on my arm. But I think this could all be a big coincidence. After all, what are the chances that I, a mere human, have picked up a bracelet that "promises" marriage to one of the most desired men in the universe?

"And did you believe that? I'm sure that this is all fake and that this Levi guy just did it to get his name in the media and..."

"Look at this!"

Marrie pulls out her cell phone and shows me a video of this Levi guy throwing this bracelet on a portal. Then the singer says:

"The lucky girl who manages to get this bracelet will be my future wife"

After he said that, all the girls started screaming with euphoria.

I soon pause the video. Those screams were giving me a headache.

"Still I think this is all fake. Seriously, only muggle people fall for this kind of thing..."

"Aff, you're so boring..." said Marrie.

Ella just chuckled when she saw her friend's reaction.

Changing the subject, Ella asks why I'm late, while Marrie sits beside me on the bench, grabs her cell phone and headphones, and start using her social media while listening to music.

"Guess what..." I shoot her a defeated look.

"You were watching series until late. Right?" she asks, giving me a mocking look.

"Right..." I lower my head, defeated

"Yeah, I noticed" she laughs at my reaction. "Here. You forgot to comb your hair" she understands the comb for me.

"Really? Well Shit..." I start laughing to myself. I must look awful.

I reach out my hand for the comb. And then Marrie notices something on my wrist. "My" new bracelet.

"Heeehhh??? Wait..." she takes my wrist and lets it static in front of her face.

And then she pulls out her cell phone and opens it to that same video she showed me earlier. She analyzes it for a few seconds and lets out a scream.

"WOOAAHHHH!!!...NOT IS POSSIBLE...NOT IS POSSIBLE!!!!!!" she starts screaming in droves, attracting the attention of everyone in the place.

A random student appears scared and starts asking Marrie what's going on.

"IT'S AMANDA!!!!!! SHE... SHE HAS THE BRACELET LEVI THROWN ON THAT PORTAL IN ONE OF HIM SHOWS!!!!!!!!" She responds by screaming, in the same tone as the scream she gave a few seconds ago.

Then, everyone in the room, after hearing that last sentence dropped by Marrie, comes towards me.

Some girls were dying of envy and others admired for my "luck". Soon, all that crowd that was around me starts to pick up their cell phones and start taking pictures.

"HEEEHHHHH WHAT A LUCKY GIRL YOU ARE" a girl screams

"I can't say the same about Levi... Look what a horrible girl!" said a familiar voice. It was Kirari, the popular girl from high school. Since elementary school, she lives filling my patience. Always with bad jokes.

She comes towards me and looks at my bracelet in disgust. She tries to take him away from me, but she can't.

"Oh shit! That bracelet should be MINE"

Everyone starts looking at her tensely, while she pulls the jewel harder. Then, as a reaction, the jewel releases an electrical charge on Kirari, which makes her brown hair stand on end.

Everyone, myself included, starts to laugh, while Kirari leaves the room with a sullen face.

Then the bell rang.

I sigh in relief, thinking that the crowd would get off me. But it seems that sound did not affect those above me. Some of them had their cell phone cameras on, flashing my face, asking a billion questions.

"(Shit Marrie, what situation did you put me in...)" I blame my friend in my mind, but I know she's not at fault.

It's my fault I'm late, it's my fault I'm in this situation.

I take a deep breath and think about what to do. So I had an idea. I look around at that bunch of people, asking a million dumb questions, and I look for a loophole. I fail, there is no place for me to escape. So I have only one option left: I start to run out as fast as possible, pushing a few people in front of me. So they all started following me.

After running a lot, I see a bathroom. Luckily, I get inside it quickly and hide in one of the cabins.

Then, I hear several quick steps outside passing straight by.

I sigh in relief. Finally, that bunch of freaks was going to leave me alone, at least for now.

*minutes later*

After a few minutes have passed, I look at my cell phone clock:

"9:45"

At that moment, it was English classes. I was kind of weak on the subject, but I did well on exams.

I preferred to wait for a few more minutes in the bathroom until 10 am - which was the time to change teachers.

I sit down on the vase and start staring at the bracelet.

"What bad luck I have..." I sigh a little sadly "my life is going to be hell now, all because of you"

Staring at the bracelet for a few more seconds, I start to notice something: there was a kind of red "dot" blinking on one of its sapphire stones.

Then I hear a crash coming from outside. It was so strong that the ground shook slightly. My heart starts to race with fear and anxiety.

I quickly exit the cabin where I've been and head out of the bathroom. My vision gets a little blurry as the hallway was all clouded over by a strange dust smoke.

Luckily I could still see a little. So I took advantage and went straight to the garden that is in the middle of the school. There was nothing there, so I ran outside the building to the main entrance. There were many students in the place, most of them with their cell phone cameras turned on.

Finding all that strange, I pushed some colleagues over there to find out what was going on up ahead.

Then I felt something strange. A feeling of longing came over me as I approached the entrance. Anyway, I ignored that feeling and continued following my path. Finally, when I reached the entrance, I saw a kind of limousine lying on the ground, forming a huge crater. That thing fell from the sky and, due to its weight, formed that huge hole. Now I understand why there is a lot of dust in the hallways.

That vehicle was all white and the door handles seemed to be the purest gold.

I saw someone coming out of there. He was a tall, muscular man, blond and blue-eyed. He wore a white suit and had gold accents on his clothes. He appeared to be intact for someone who just fell out of the sky.

And then, that tall man looked at that crowd that was staring at him and asked:

"Who here is called Amanda Yumare-Kawarii?"
