It was lunchtime and the cafeteria was very noisy than usual. I took my lunch and proceeded to the table located on the corner.
I saw a girl running towards me. Before I can process what happened, I felt my body falling to the ground. I shut my eyes so tight expecting my back to land on the cold ground. But it never happened. Instead, I could feel a warm hand holding on me on my waist. I was held tight and my eyes opened wide on hearing the familiar voice.
"I think you should eat more. Even a small wind can blow you away." His brown eyes bored into my blue eyes. His face filled with an expression that I couldn't read. His lips twitched upwards as I studied his face. I came back to my senses as I pushed him away.
"Alec, why is it you everywhere?" I muttered.
"Because I can be everywhere." He stated as he moved closer to me.
Seriously what's his problem. Ignoring him, I turned and looked around me to see everyone's eyes glued on me. I observed myself as my white t-shirt was stained by the food. On my side, I saw the girl who hit me all panicked. I gave her a smile indicating it's okay.
"A thank you won't harm you. Right?" He questioned raising an eyebrow.
"Thank you." I whispered. He smirked at me.
"Sorry." The girl who hit me said with an apologetic look. She took some napkins and cleaning the stain from my t-shirt.
"It's okay. Really." I assured her.
"I'll buy you lunch as an apology." She suggested.
"That won't be necessary," I told her. I can see from her eyes that she is stubborn.
"Please." She requested.
I sighed and then nodded.
"I have a spare t-shirt in my locker you can change into that," he said with a smile.
"Okay." I agreed.
I turned back they already left. I followed the girl to the locker room.
"Charlotte." She said
"Huh?" I gave a confused look.
"My name." She said.
"Oh! Kyra." I smiled at her as I said my name.
After changing into her t-shirt, we went to the cafeteria to have lunch,
"So, you don't have any friends?" She asked as her eyebrow raised.
"No," I stated.
"If you don't mind, can you explain why?" She interrogated.
"Maybe because I'm a nerd or because my appearance is not too pleasing for the eyes," I replied with no emotion.
The smile on her face was now gone.
"Can I be your friend?" she asked. I was surprised by her sudden request. "I just transferred here and I don't have any friends here. I really hope we can be friends." She continued.
Her words left me in chaos. I don't want her to be in any trouble but I can't deny her sweet request also. I gave up at last.
"Okay," I said.
"Really?" she sounded excited.
"Yes," I assured.
Friendship was something that I never felted in ages. She is the first so far to approach me seek for a friendship. I don't know why I accepted her friendship. Maybe because I felt too lonely that I needed someone to speak to.
She is a nice girl. She was beautiful with her curled hair, ivory skin and a nice smile.
We chatted for a while and then exchanged our numbers. The rest of the day went as usual without any annoying jerk or any unexpected encounters.
