"I will kill you before you even get close to killing her."
The crackling of the fire was all that filled his ears as he let the memories replay themselves, reminding him of a time, where he had hoped that love was actually as strong as everyone had said. Why was he surprised? The devil may only tell the truth but he is a trickster and one that will never rest.
So he vowed to always protect his mother over his father because at least she stayed true to what was right and not to what she felt was right.
