Since the moment that Doc had said that word, my ears had been ringing. Actually, it was before he officially told me that I was pregnant and said that he had done a pregnancy test. Makai and I thought that it was stupid, but the evidence was right there. He had done a pregnancy test and it was positive. It was real. And I just couldn't believe it.
Several times since he told me that I had said the same thing.
"I am not pregnant." I was still saying it over and over again. "I am not pregnant."
"Well, Ocean, whether you want to believe it or not, it's true. I can take some blood back to the hospital and run a blood test to confirm it if you want me to."
"NO!" I vehemently objected to that idea. "NO!" I said it again for good measure.
"Ocean, it would be the surest way to confirm if you are pregnant or not. I can check for your HCG levels and see for certain that you are pregnant."
"NO!" I screamed the word again.
