I made sure to tell myself that I needed to get up early the next morning. I set the alarm on my phone, turned the volume of it down and put it under my pillow so that it wouldn't wake Makai when it went off at five in the morning. I just didn't want to ruin the surprise that I had put together that night before falling asleep.
Makai had planned a huge anniversary party for us. But he had done it the day before our anniversary so that I wouldn't suspect a thing. He had gone through all that trouble for me, and I had only gotten him some gifts. No, I needed to do something else. I needed to show him just how much I appreciated all that he had done for me. I needed to show him that I was willing and able to surprise him as well.
