The next couple of days passed quickly. Before I knew it, it was Saturday and the day that everyone was coming to our place for dinner. Ben and Ryan just got back from their trip last night and were surprised to see that we had been back for so long. They came over right after breakfast to tell us how their trip had been. I was betting that they had a lot of bonding time while alone in the woods, just the two of them.
"What happened with you guys? Was it that hard to find the birth mother?" They didn't know yet that Hudson was coming over today.
"No, we found her." I looked away from them, trying not to feel embarrassed about what happened, but Ben picked up on it right away.
"Ocean? What happened out there? Why do I feel like something bad happened?"
"What? Something happened? What was it?" Ryan sat up straighter and looked at me with concern. "Do I need to buy a diving suit and kick a bitch's ass?"
