The weekend soon came, and it was date night for Isaiah and Lia. Isaiah was waiting outside of Lia's tiny home, waiting for her to answer the door.
Isaiah was dressed in the fanciest clothes that he had. He was wearing a plain light blue dress shirt with black slacks and back dress shoes.
Isaiah looks down at his empty hands.
"Should I have brought flowers or chocolate? Ughh, why didn't I think of this earlier." Isaiah mumbles to himself as the door opens.
"Good afternoon Mr. Greenwood," Lia says, opening the door.
Isaiah's breath was taken away from how amazing Lia looked.
Lia was wearing a yellow sundress that showed her curves entirely. She had light gold makeup and red lipstick that complemented her gold hair chain. She undoubtedly looked like a goddess.
"Goah, Good afternoon Miss Harris," Isaiah said, stumbling over his words.
"Oh right, sorry for not bringing flowers or chocolate."
"Very traditional, I see, but it's ok flowers are overrated, and I don't like chocolate," Lia says.
"Great, but don't worry, I backed amazing food for our outdoor meal," Isaiah says, holding up the basket of food.
"Shall we go, Isaiah, says, reaching out his hand?"
"Show me the way, King," Lia says, holding onto Isaiah's arm.
They get to a teleporter and are transported to the nearest Island, Maria Island. Right on the shoreline. Night had already fallen, and the moonlight was bright with a light breeze.
"It's a beautiful night, isn't it? Lia says, looking up at the moon.
"It is… it's not as beautiful as you, though. Isaiah says, smiling at Lia.
Lia blushes and looks away. As she looks back at Isaiah, he is floating in the air with his hand extended.
"Are you ready to get a closer look at the moon? He says.
Lia takes Isaiah's hand, and she floats up with him holding on to him tightly.
"Don't worry, I got you," Isaiah says in a low voice.
Those words comforted Lia more than Isaiah knew. Finally, Lia loses her grip on Isaiah and starts to ascend in the night sky.
As they ascend, Lia holds on to Isaiah and looks up at him, and gives a warm smile. Her hold turns into a hug as she realized she wasn't going to fall.
Lia closes her eyes and enjoys Isaiah's warmth as he enjoyed hers.
"This is so peaceful, isn't it," Lia says.
"It is, even more, when I'm with you," he says, looking down at Lia with her eyes still closed.
"Open your eyes and look at this," Isaiah says, pointing to the moon.
Lia opened her eyes and saw the bright moon; it looked so close it was almost like you could touch it.
"Wow, I never thought the moon could look so big and could be so bright," Lia says, letting go of Isaiah unintentionally to fake grab the moon.
Isaiah smiles as he watches her.
"I've never noticed until now, but every time I look at her, I can't help but smile.
Lia looks back at Isaiah, smiling at her.
"What?" She asks
"Look at you." He says.
Lia looks down and screams.
"I'm actually floating in the middle of the sky… this has to be taboo for the earth goddess," Lia says.
"Haa, I'm sure she won't mine. Isaiah says, floating her closer to him
"You can really just fly anywhere you like away from everything if you wanted to," Lia says in a low voice.
"Yea, it's a blessing. But anywhere you are in the place you need to be. Every bird has to come to the ground at some point, and the place they land is the place they need to be." Isaiah says, smiling.
"Wow, some words of wisdom, look at you," Lia says lightly, hitting Isaiah.
"I have my moments," Isaiah says. Then, he slowly starts to fly them through the air.
"So, what was life like you before you came to the academy? Isaiah says.
Lia's face turned depressed for a second.
"I know I told you I was a normal girl before I came here, and that wasn't me lying. I was a normal girl; I just didn't live a normal life." Lia says in a low voice.
"What do you mean?" Isaiah asked.
"Well, at one time, my life was very normal when my father was alive. But then he died, and my mother turned to alcohol. Then…" Lia stops mid-sentence, and Isaiah stops flying them.
"You don't have to tell me if you don't want to." Isaiah touch's Lia shoulder.
Lia grabs his hand.
"It's really hard for me to talk about and-"
"It's ok, I understand. How about I tell you about my life. From what I can remember, Anyways, Isaiah says with a warm smile.
"Ok." Lia smiles back.
"Well, what would you like to know?" Isaiah asked as he continued their flight path.
"What was your family dynamic like?" Lia askes
"Very traditional, my dad went to work, and my mom was a stay-at-home mom."
"Wow, really, that's very traditional. It sounds like your family was pretty well off." Lia says
"We were. I honestly can't remember going through any hardships besides being alone. Even at school, I always remember being by myself. Luckily video games and anime saved me from being socially awkward. Isaiah laughed.
"Yea, that is a blessing to grow up pretty peaceful like that," Lia says.
"Do you have any goals or dreams?" She asked.
"I wanna be the very best that no one ever was," Isaiah says in a sing voice.
Lia laughs.
"Yes, of course, I do. I want to live a normal life and provide for my family. But, more importantly, I want that for everyone else too. I know I've lived a blessed life so far, and I want others to have that. I have the power to stop a tragedy. If I only used that to protect myself and the people I cared about, I would be selfish.
Lia smiled as Isaiah spoke.
"I bet that sounds kinda like cheese, doesn't it," Isaiah said as he scratched the back of his head.
"Not at all. It's very Nobel. Lia says.
"This guy sounds a little too perfect. It's either Gaia has a great choice in men, or I do." Lia thought to herself.
"What about you?" Isaiah asks.
"If I was honest, I want to be a queen," Lia says
Isaiah makes a face.
"Don't tell me she wants to be a queen to rule over all men with an iron thumb. Could she be a super feminist? Is she into dominatrix? All these thoughts ran through Isaiah's mind.
"I want to be a queen and a mother that every little girl looks up to. I want to have a name that a little girl will say that will strike fear into men that try to abuse them." Lia says.
"Oh, so you want to be like Batman," Isaiah replies.
Silence.
"I'm kidding… I understand why, though. Even now, we still have women in the world with fewer rights and protection than men. So it's a very inspiring and just cause." Isaiah says.
"Now I understand why it was hard for her to talk about how she grew up. No little girl should have to grow up in fear like that." Isaiah thought
"Are you hungry? Let's move onto the next phase of our data." Isaiah says as they descend onto the water.
