Hohummmm...its already 5:30 AM. Stretching my arms and limbs, I started my day. Another ordinary Monday for you Hanni Lim. Made a cup of coffee to wake myself up then went straight to the bathroom and showered. After taking a shower I'm now in front of the sink brushing my teeth looking at myself at the mirror in front with just a towel covering my body. Hmm, not bad Hanni girl...you still have it, saying this with a mouthful of toothpaste foam in my mouth (its a rare talent, you know, speaking with foam in your mouth)...but really, I am 173 cm tall, nice curvy body, boobs not too big but not too small, butt curvy enough, slim waist, nice legs, I could've passed for a model if I were younger, "if" is the key word!
In truth, Hanni Lim had mixed blood as most people from P Country are, because the country had been occupied by different races before it become independent some hundreds of decades ago. She has smooth and fair skin, v-shaped face that could be the envy of most Chinese and Korean Actresses, almond-shaped eyes, high-bridged nose and pouty red lips. She even has a cute dimple on the left side of her cheek. You could say that she looked like an asian mixed with western blood. A striking combination.
Hanni might jokingly praise herself in front of the bathroom mirror but in reality she does not think of herself as pretty, more like pretty common if you ask her to describe herself. This is because of her strict upbringing.
As a little girl, little boys liked little Hanni but to her they just wanted her cookies. In elementary, she believed they just wanted to get close so they could copy from her notes. In high school, she thought they were trying to make fun of her. In junior high...well she just could not be bothered up until she graduated in college. She never once thought its because she's beautiful. Why? Because our girl is not that kind of girly, makeuppy, fashion barbie kind of girl. She doesn't wear makeup except for white face powder and lip gloss. Her wardrobe consists of white, beige, black, brown and gray colored clothes. Shoes for her are black leather flats and rubber shoes, that's it. No high heels for this girl, please!
Her coemployees joked amongst themselves that Hanni had an invisible but super powerful man-deflecting, affection-destroying, and love-neutralizing plated armour that's why even looking like she does, nobody could get through to her.
After getting dressed she booked for a shared ride so she can get to the National Library without the hassle of taking commuter busses. Its comfortable and worth the slight expense.
Arriving at her place of work, she saw some students sitting on the benches at the entrance of the library. These students were regulars at the library so she nodded at them in greeting. One particularly handsome student shyly approached her.
"Ms. Lim!" Jae called. "Hi! Starbugs had a buy one get one promo today, I know you like soy lattes so...you can have my get one, here take it." Shoving the cup to her, the young man quickly turned and went back to where he was sitting earlier amidst the teasing of his group.
Hanni laughing quietly while shaking her head called out her thanks. "Hey, Mr. Tan, thank you for this, but you still have to return all the overdue books you borrowed, alright!" she smilingly retorted.
Jae's group again erupted with more teasing and catcalling. The young man although blushing looked a bit proud of Hanni's acknowledgement. He felt proud that Hanni remembered his overdue books, that she knew that he still have books which needs to be returned.
The folly of the young. Never mind that its just overdue books what Jae heard was Hanni saying "you", "your" not somebody else's overdue books, only his overdue books. Tsk, tsk, tsk...
