As the chopping sound from above us drew ever so closer to us, we all looked up. To our greatest surprise, it was a pretty new looking battle helicopter. Why the hell would there be a battle helicopter...?
As those questions approached, I realized that our fight hasn't stopped. Stacey, as if nothing happened, was already charging at me, not even leaving me time to think. I instinctively tried to dodge her attack, but it was nigh impossible. Not for me, anyways.
As I dodged, she managed to catch my left leg, for some reason biting into it. She span me around, eventually letting go of me, throwing me in the direction of the wall. I reacted in time, and created another barrier with my [Greed Binder], almost entirely negating the force of the throw. I guess that was a lucky fluke, of sorts.
I got back on my feet, still slightly distracted by the helicopter hovering above. As it drew closer, some sort of circular object appeared in the window of the cockpit. Looking at it, I assumed it was one of those pre-war megaphones, or whatever they were called. Suddenly, a loud voice drew the attention of everyone in the battlefield, coming directly from that object.
"Godly One, get in!" the familiar voice of Inspector Malcolm resounded in the area. Our opponents seemed to be quite puzzled, well at least that was the case with two thirds of them. I wasn't so lucky.
Having a berserker as my opponent wasn't really the best thing that ever happened to me. I wouldn't say it was the worst either, given my history with bullies, but this definitely made it top five, at the very least.
After the megaphone went silent, I saw Stacey run for me straight again. Wait a second. She really was just coming at me head on, since she went berserk. Is it that she doesn't think like this? No, she can't think? I just realized something amazingly helpful.
I was situated perfectly for a good strong blow. In the last moment ( when she was about fifteen feet from me - she was ridiculously fast, okay?) I jumped out of her way, and hoped she'd headbutt the wall behind me, maybe breaking it down on herself.
Miraculously, that's just what happened. She sprinted straight into the wall, knocking quite a good chunk of it down. She almost completely disappeared under the rubble, and from above where she just landed, Francis was flying towards us.
"Tentazione! Grab Meda!" he shouted, and ran straight for Baulder. Somehow he managed to pick up the big guy, while Donalddson was still in his ball form, and jumped up towards the aircraft. I turned around, looking for our last member.
She was really preoccupied with her fight, almost entirely unable to pay attention to anything but Hattori. That speed complex will kill her someday, I swear. I ran her way, preparing two [Greed Binders], one to latch onto the helicopter, and the other to grab her with.
The only problem, that I noticed straight away, was how close Hattori was at all times to her. He practically was playing with her. We had to do something about that, or we couldn't get away that easily. If I were to call out to her, she'd be distracted enough for Hattori to give her a fatal blow. I had to stay out of her vision, or she could die here.
I ran behind her, but I knew Hattori saw me. This wasn't the best situation for this, but I had to try it. I focused my will, and looked into Hattori's mind.
I found myself in a weird pink atmosphere. I'm in the mind of a ninja, or something, how is this pink? It should be blue. Real ninjas are blue. What a shame.
After a second something really weird popped up. The berserk face of Stacey? Why would it be in a pink mist, in the head of a ninja...?
I see. That's useful. I found something, that could help me ut big time.
I jumped out of his mind, and shouted at him.
"Vice-Warden Hattori! Look to your right! You'll see what you love the most," I somewhat ordered him. He seemed really confused, and took a slight glimpse. This was the time. He was the most vulnerable right now, "And now go to sleep," I ordered him one final time.
At that same time, his eyes closed shut, and he fell on the ground. I could've killed him, but it's too late now. I was an idiot not to kill him, but I killed enough today already. Meda looked at me, really confused as to what is happening, and what am I doing, but she noticed that I'm extending my hand towards her. She grabbed it, and I pulled her close.
I used my other hand to latch onto the helicopter, and I started pulling us up.
"Go, now!" I shouted up at Malcolm, who was looking at me from the cockpit, and lifted up his hand for an okay sign.
We started to ascend, but something felt weird. All of us were on the helicopter, yet it felt like something else was going on.
As I looked down, I noticed that something was hanging off of me.
It was goddamn Stacey again, trying to eat my goddamn leg again! I tried to kick her off, but it didn't work that well. I don't even know how she got out of the rubble, and now she somehow jumped thirty feet in the air, even more than that?! As a last minute plan, I told Meda to hold on tight, and extended my hand, that was holding her downwards, aiming it at Stacey. I got my Binder out, and shot it straight into her eyes, mouth, nose and ears. She was essentially blinded, and if she didn't do anything about it, I would push it into her brain to pierce it. I wouldn't stop again.
She finally released me, and fell to the ground, probably breaking her legs.
Francis and Baulder pulled us up. We were all beaten, but somehow survived. We put on some headgear, that allowed us to communicate, and started to treat our wounds finally. I was the worst, with broken ribs, and a broken arm. It hurt like hell while trying to get on the helicopter, but I didn't have time to care about that.
I got a bunch of bandages over my torso, and a splint on my arm, as we didn't really have a cast. Francis was more or less unharmed, with a few bruises, and a cut or two. Meda had it worse than him, with about a dozen or so cuts all over her body. Baulder, the fucking tank he is, was mostly unharmed, with only a few bruises on his chest. I guess an armadillo can damage a tree to some extent, eh?
After we finally got all sorted out, we reported in to Malcolm, and he started explaining his plan for here on out.
"I'll be taking you to an island, that my order owns. We use it for training, so it will be perfect for you guys," he started, "It's also not registered officially, so only members of the Cult would know where to find you guys, and they have nothing against you. On the contrary, we welcome one of the Godly Ones in our facilities."
Sounded like the most solid plan I ever heard for a group of escapees. Isolated Island - check; Training Facility - check; Weird Cult that not a Single Soul Knows - check. I was slightly uneasy about this, as I didn't really know why I'm being revered by a weird cult, but was there anything I could do about it like this?
Everyone seemed to be uneasy about it, but this really was our best chance at survival.
As we got away from the prison, I noticed, that it was entirely surrounded by sea, no, and Ocean. I had an inkling, that that was the case, but I didn't have any way to prove it.
"Hey, Malcolm, where the hell are we actually?" I finally asked.
"Oh, you didn't know still? We were off the western coast of the Despotic Union of the Americas. Just west of Old Mexico," he explained.
In the year 2025 the world broke out in a war. The Third Great World War, as we call it now. Appearantly something shook the world, and the leaders of the Old Countries broke out in a war. After the War, the Countries decided to break up the world, not by racial borders, but political views. The D.U.A., where I was brought up is a good example. It is a weird twisted democracy, where the leader of the country had absolute power. Hence, despotic. The other countries, like the Empire of the Old World takes up most of Europe, with the Democracy of the Mediterranean followed their own "old ways, took up the rest of the continent.
Our world right now is a flaming mess of that war, even 25 years later, we still fight each other, occasionally.
Who was the idiot, that decided that political ideologies wouldn't fight?
