The moment Nicolaus heard heavy thuds nearing from inside, he put on his poker face.
Once it opened just barely, there was a small crack in the door. With his left hand, Boarfang gripped his battle axe and attentively looked outside to see who had the guts to pull a prank on him at the most inconvenient time possible.
Even though he had no intention of harming anybody, he was quite furious, and so he planned to scare the living daylights out of this punk for good.
He was outraged after Boarfang discovered that no one was at the door, he looked down and nearly choked his words when he identified the familiar figure; as the little boy sniffed mildly and looked into his adopted father's eyes like a small wolf would look into his mother's eyes, asking for protection.
With Boarfang's eyes focused on that small boy and a grim look on his face, he placed his battle axe on the floor and opened the door just wide enough to enable a child to pass by as he awaited the return of his son to his house.
He doesn't seem to have very happy to see me… Is he perhaps on to something?
While lowering his head, and taking one little step forward, Nicolaus thought and entered the house, forlorn and reticent to speak for fear of raising additional suspicions.
The inhabitants of this alternative world spoke a different language, but thanks to the previous body's owner, his memories overlapped with Nicolaus, who was now able to communicate with them in their native tongue.
However, the pictures and information that passed through his mind were only hazy, and as a result, he only has a faint understanding of his position and connection within the tribe, as well as the tribe's mother language and the tribe's name... The Silent Boulder Tribe...
Once inside the house, Nicolaus got the strong impression that someone was staring at him from both the front and the back of the house and that their eyes never left his face for even a single second during his entire time here.
When his son returned alive, Boarfang was overjoyed; however, while on the outside he maintained a serious expression, on the inside he was worried as he looked at his pathetic appearance; but his heart couldn't stop beating all of a sudden, as if something was wrong.
"What is this feeling?... When I look at my son... It's as if I'm missing something..." Boarfang muttered to himself, unsettlingly.
His wife was a great warrior in the tribe, a master of the spear, and a wonderful aid while they were out hunting. However, as a result of her loss with their newborn, she became despondent, and she was always questioning and doubting herself.
The tanned-skinned Geraldine, with a slim build, had now forsaken the hunting excursions and refused to go outdoors after that dreadful day.
However, when Boarfang saw that little boy underneath that basement, stubbornly refusing to give up despite the dire conditions, he brought him back to the tribe and prompted him to live with him and his wife.
Boarfang felt it was a wise decision, and he was filled with satisfaction because he could now see that his wife was enjoying her life and since the silver-haired child that he had brought into the family nonchalantly, had turned out to be a blessing for him and his wife.
She loved him as if he were her own son, lavishing the kid with pure love and happiness at every opportunity. Then, after 5 years of bliss, it was shattered when some fucker murdered his son. If it weren't for the fact that he had to take care of his wife, he would've cut that bastard's head off and skewered it at the gate. and serve his flesh to the raptors, while watching those beasts consume it with delight.
Nonetheless, he was relieved to see his son had returned, but that murderer would pay a heavy price for his actions against the son of Boarfang! Once he was finished, Boarfang's eyes blazed with savageness for a fraction of a second before returning to clarity as he saw his wife and son engaging in a pleasant discussion.
"Boy… come here," After opening her arms wide, Geraldine felt a rush of emotion rush out of her as she couldn't keep her tears from streaming down her face any longer.
Nicolaus with no hesitation went into his mother's arms and wrapped his arms around her neck.
A chair had been placed in front of him, and Boarfang sat on it, waiting for his child to get a hug as well. But he couldn't bring himself to ask because of his pride, so he just sat there and watched her wife and son embrace one another, his face a picture of serenity.
Geraldine laughed a bit as she realized what her husband was going through, as she held the child in his arms and she instructed her son to hug his father as well.
Nicolaus was a bit prudent when he saw this father of his, but he nevertheless walked towards his father and embraced him as well.
While embracing his kid, Boarfang turned to face his wife and stated, "The Shaman invited me to come, and he's just as mysterious as he always has been... He must have predicted that our kid would arrive, and he must have anticipated my arrival before him with the two of us."
As Geraldine responded, she did so with a sigh. "The methods of shamans are strange, full with enchantment, go ahead, I'll remain right here, and we'll talk about our kid afterward..."
Boarfang grit his teeth as he responded, "Certainly..."
