For a while the room was silent, both parties deep in thought.
"Anyway" eventually it was the instructor who broke that silence "The reason I sent you to fight was because now what you need is experience fighting human beings"
"You have experienced actual combat, but because it was probably against beasts and monsters it has made you develop habits that made it difficult for you to improve with the sword in the right direction" said Oars as he took a bottle from the drawers of his table. Obviously, this talk made him thirsty, but the instructor did not stop talking.
Allan nodded, what Oars was saying made sense. In the year that he had been practicing the sword he had always been looking for the best way to face his enemies. The reason no one notified him of these problems is probably because the rest of the town guards had them too.
