From a small hill, two figures watched the fight between Allan and the wolf.
What do you think Eric?" asked one of the figures while they watched how the wolf fled from the place where the combat took place.
"About what? That foreigner? Extremely subpar, I still have no idea why we came this far. So important is that young man?" said one of the figures sounding confused.
"He? No, the important thing is what he represents" said the figure.
"What does he represent?"
"This foreigner has only been in town for a few months and he can already fight like this, according to my sources when he arrived, he did not know how to differentiate a stick from a sword" patiently explained the figure to the man named Eric.
"Really?" Eric asked as he looked at Allan from a distance as if he was doubting those words, even though they knew it was not the case.
"So what? No matter how much he progresses, after all, he is one person, no matter how strong he becomes, he will not pose a threat.
"But what if he wasn't just one person?" said the figure, getting to the point.
"What if there were thousands of people with the same capacity as the boy? Strong, intelligent, and incapable of dying? what would you do then? "
Eric's eyes grew serious as he understood where his partner wanted to go.
"Do you really think that could happen?"
After a minute of silence, the person said:
"I don't know, we don't know enough, we don't know his wishes, motivations, or objectives. Why have they come here? What do you hope to achieve?" the figure asked.
"I'm sorry mister. No one can answer those questions for us" said Eric as he remembered what his subordinates had learned.
"They are too diverse a group to analyze as a whole, they do not appear to be part of an army, and their actions do not make sense, it is as if thousands of people from different places have gathered here by chance." Eric continued.
"Even if we try to find out their reasons for being here that is also impossible because they disappear after a few days, all but-"
"Him" The figure finished the words that Eric was about to say.
"Do you understand now? This adventurer is the only one who has decided to stay in town, and he is the only one who can answer our questions"
By the time the figure had finished speaking, Allan had already turned and was heading back to town.
The man turned and started walking in the direction Allan had headed.
"Prepare a messenger, it's time for him and me to get to know each other"
"Yes captain," Eric said as he followed him back to town.
...
"HAHAHA!!! Do you really think you defeated that wolf? HAHAHA!!!
The next morning when Tom arrived at the inn, Allan told him about his battle the night before with the big gray.
By the time Allan finished his story, Tom was on the floor laughing.
"What he is so funny?" Allan said a little offended.
After all, Allan had spent a lot of effort and energy fighting the big gray, anyone would be angry if his friends laugh at his efforts after having achieved something with a lot of work.
"Sorry, sorry, but there seems to be a misunderstanding, that wolf didn't run away from you" After a few minutes Tom calmed down and told him the truth.
"What does it mean that he didn't run away from me? There was no one else in the forest at that time" Allan answered without understanding.
"How can I explain it to you? The big gray was not afraid of you, it only changed its opinion about you"
Seeing how proud Tom was of his explanation, Allan wanted to punch him and yell at him, but he held back and asked Tom to say it in more detail again.
In the end, Allan understood.
It may seem obvious, but in the forest, there are no doctors or medicines so what its residents fear the most is being injured, not only can they fall ill, but during the time they are recovering they can be attacked by other animals. This is why the wolves abandon their wounded members so that they do not harm the group.
When the big gray attacked Allan, it did so with the mentality of attacking prey, the big gray viewed Allan as food.
However, at the time that Allan and the wolf fought, the latter thought that he was too much trouble for what he was going to get if he killed Allan, too much effort for too little benefit. So, the big gray stopped fighting and went to look for another prey.
This does not mean that the wolf saw Allan as a rival. If that had been the case the wolf would have fought until one of the two fell to defend its territory.
"In short, you have gone from food to being a minor nuisance. Congratulations" said Tom while smiling.
"Is this really so?" Allan asked depressed, that his rival considered him a mere nuisance was a heavy blow to anyone.
Unfortunately, the last one anyone should turn to for comfort is Tom.
"Of course. You do not know how wolves really fight; the largest packs of hundreds of members can become a problem even for guards like myself. From the first moment you decided to face big gray you had no chance" said Tom with the subtlety of a brick against a mirror.
"Are they really that strong?" Allan asked, still doubtful after their match.
"Of course, and the leaders of the packs are the worst, not only do they coordinate all the wolves, but their strength is incomparable to common wolves"
Although Allan didn't like what he was hearing, he had no choice but to admit that it all made sense.
The towns of Isla Tutorial are not new, on the contrary, they are places with a lot of history, if there were no dangers to take care of on the island, then these towns would be cities with a much larger population.
The only reason that this has not happened is that there are circumstances that limit its development.
While Allan and Tom were deep in conversation a guard that Allan had never seen approached his table.
When Tom saw the guard, he was surprised and got up from the table as quickly as he could.
"Vice-captain Eric! What is he doing here"
Eric ignored Tom and stopped in front of Allan.
"Are you Allan?" Eric asked even knowing the answer.
"Yes"
"Captain of the guards Robert Smith invites you to visit the barracks, are you willing to come?"
Although Eric had asked a question and his words sounded like an order, Allan was sure he wouldn't take too well being rejected.
"Follow me"
Before Allan could answer Eric turned and left the inn.
Allan could only get up and chase the figure leaving Tom alone.
Looks like Allan is going to meet the captain.
