Chapter 61: A wander into the Mist (Part 2)
It didn't matter who was sent towards us.
They just died.
Within the confines of the Hidden mist, Ryuko and I were at the edge, so for the next 3 minutes we were able to kill all the Ninja who even came close to us.
"Some Ninja have gotten extremely brazen nowadays." I heard a calm voice mention, and turned around to see someone I had never seen before.
A muscular man with short, dark blue hair and piercing blue eyes that reflect determination in battle. He wore a traditional Hidden Mist attire adorned with the insignia of the 7 ninja swordsmen of the Mist and carried Nuibari, the sewing Needle, which was strapped to his back.
"I am not just 'some ninja.'" I told the man as I turned towards him while concentrating all of my senses on him.
I could obviously tell, this man is a peak Elite Jonin, and one of the new original characters of the Hidden Mist.
We were briefed on this man, among many others. But for him to show up definitely meant trouble, since he was on the caliber of our Elite Nina, and Sora sensei was brought in to specifically deal with him.
Renji Hoshigaki.
The thick mist of the Hidden Mist Village swirls ominously around Renji Hoshigaki as he stood silently amidst the shadows of the city.
I watched as Renji gripped Nuibari tightly as he obviously took me seriously.
Well what can I say, the war built me a small reputation.
Gripping Nuibari tightly, Renji's mind races with tactical calculations.
Still with my aura rampaging around me and my odachi gripped tightly in my hand I faced Renji. I had no reason to fear this opponent, since I myself had come a long, long way.
The first instance I could, I used my Shadow God Steps and materialized at a location that was way behind Renji, my eyes gleaming with lust for battle.
Without saying a word, I launched a barrage of Shadow Tendrils towards Renji, trying to ensnare and immobilize him.
Renji reacted swiftly, channeling some type of water based Ninjutsu without any hand signs, he manipulated the moisture in the air to create a protective barrier of mist around himself.
As the tendrils were still charging towards him, closing in, Nuibari momentarily flashes in his hands- a blur of silver as he striked with extreme precision and speed.
His Nuibari sliced through the shadow tendrils, severing them effortlessly with each calculated stroke.
His movements were fluid and deliberate, utilizing Buibari's unique ability to sew and bind as he maneuvered to gain the upper hand.
Even with my shadow dance reaching the next stage, such a unique style of fighting warranted me to be cautious. I had to be able to adapt to him, and his sword play.
However, I am sure I was better than basically all characters in the game due to my Aspect Legacy.
I was able to adapt my strategies in this fight with ease, weaving through the mist with eerie grace, even with my destructive aura around me.
The shadows around me responded to my call, and they twisted and coiled around me. I slowly got them to merge into a massive, swirling vortex of darkness and aimed it right at Renji.
Right now I was just using Shadow manipulation, but the second I threw the shadows at Renji, I used Shadow Manifestation, giving them a tangible effect. The sheer force of it threatened to overwhelm his defenses.
A massive amount of chakra surged out of Renji's body, and all of it got infused into Nuibari, enhancing its power like crazy.
With a decisive thrust he pierced through the vortex of shadows, disrupting my control over them and forcing me to go into a defensive stance.
His thrust didn't stop right there, as he went through the shadows and continued, trying to pierce me too.
But using my Shadow God Steps, I just materialized somewhere else.
The best part is, everytime I used this skill, since I was inside of the shadows for a period of time, my injuries would get healed, including my fatigue, even if it was for an instant.
"What is that Jutsu?" Renji questioned, as he positioned himself to come and attack me.
"Now why would I tell you that?" I questioned him, as I changed my stance a little more too.
"Fair enough." Renji said calmly, and before I could even blink he reappeared before my eye, catching me by surprise.
It was like he had just teleported to where I was at!
I instantly used my Shadow God Steps to teleport away but it was futile since wherever I was, he was right there with me.
'Screw this.' I couldn't help but think, as I used my sword and parried his attack, and used the momentum from the parry to swing right back at him.
His eyes widened in shock, as he moved away from me putting a lot of distance between us.
"That swordsmanship…"
Right as he said that, a man appeared right in front of me, and he was someone I was able to recognise instantly.
Sora sensei swung his sword, getting rid of all mist in the vicinity of us.
"How about I help you a little, Shikomu?" He asked, as an intense aura appeared around him.
I always felt like Sora sensei was like a predator looking down on his prey, and now I could witness it towards an enemy.
"Urm…do i need to be here?" I questioned honestly, since it seemed like he could handle this by himself.
"Yes. This will also be the best way for you to learn."
I nodded at that, not questioning his judgment, and Sora sheathed his sword and began to do some stretches, while it slowly sunk in for Renji who was in front of him.
"Shit, you baited me." Renji said with a sigh, as he also began to take this battle much more seriously
"It wasn't my plan but yes. We knew you would hide if you knew I would come."
Renji didn't respond at all to the statement, which led me to believe that it wasn't a taunt but an actual fact.
"Shikomu, I need you to make sure no Mist is on this battlefield while I fight him." Sora sensei instructed.
I didn't even need to ask him why, since in this fight, I am but a supporting character, I still have a small way before reaching this stage.
Soon though, I would be fighting opponents like these guys.
…
(Inside of an undisclosed location)
"Well this is an interesting predicament." A man commented as he saw the many vials of eyes and cell samples in front of him.
Nagato, known as Pain, has crimson hair and lavender Rinnegan eyes, with a lean yet muscular build.
Right now, he wore a dark cloak adorned with red clouds, embodying his role as Akatsuki's leader, exuding both strength and a somber demeanor reflective of his tragic past.
Right beside him was white Zetsu as well.
"It is." Zetsu commented. "Orochimaru sure has been busy. So many rare samples of cells from clans dating all the way back to the warring states era."
"Not only that, Sharingan as well. And for him to abandon these many might even mean he has the more valuable resources with himself."
Zetsu nodded at that logic, as Nagato's eyes scanned everywhere around him.
His eyes eventually settled on a pair of eyes that didn't have the typical Sharingan pattern, but a unique weave of lines never seen before.
"This…a Mangekyo…"
Nagato instantly pocketed the set of eyes, and got Zetsu to take all the items from Orochimaru's lab.
It might be time to invest in some scientists.
