After a moment of petting I picked it up once again.
'Should I bring it to another slime? I do want to see it get bigger once again though, it was an interesting sight which I couldn't even even fully witness. Alright just one more time then.'
Getting up off the ground with the slime in my hand I scanned the surroundings for other slimes. Not long after I see a red one near a pink one, yet they didn't try to eat each other. The only thing that might indicate why was the fact that they were the same size, around 10 centimeters in diameter.
"What are you looking for? Oh? Are you going to keep feeding that slime?" Yao Ya asked before following my line of sight onto the two slimes in the distance.
"Maybe." With a simple reply I stride towards the two bright colored slimes in the distance.
When I was right next to them I placed down the purple slime just beside the red one. Soon the process from before began and the red one's body was quickly engulfed by a purple covering. The pink one probably realizing what was happening to the red one tried to escape.
'Is this considered animal cruelty? It shouldn't right? They don't have brains or feelings, I mean I could literally see through their transparent bodies, at least in some parts. A good chunk of them in the middle is opaque though, so who knows if anything is even hidden by that. The thing probably doesn't know what's inside itself.'
The little pink one wasn't going to make it far though. After a few seconds The red one was entirely covered and not a sliver of the original color remained. A few protrusions did appear around the body of the purple one though. They poked outwards in random places yet a few moments later it would recede back into the purple body.
'Is that red one still trying to escape? Shit, this is kinda fucked up! But its nature right? This happens all the time in the wild. Like hyenas, they basically eat their prey alive with their entire pack.'
The protrusions slowly became less and less. Less protrusions overall and with less force behind each push. A second later the purple slime began moving towards the pink one and not a trace of the red one was left behind.
With each assimilation the speed of the purple slime seemed to increase. The pink one which had a huge head start was almost overtaken within a few seconds. And soon it was pounced on by our purple predator.
Half a dozen seconds later the pink one was no more. Now the size of the purple slime had doubled once again, it was now around half a meter in diameter. Once it finished it's meal it sat there for a second before making it's way towards me.
It didn't use the speed from before to chase after me, but I felt a slight unease as I watched it move toward me. At a point I felt so much unease that I even took a step back, but it didn't matter at that point as it had already reached my leg.
It elongated it's body vertically until it reached my right hand to which it then proceeded to tug on me. The act of it tugging on my hand like a child eased up on my fears for it a little.
'Well at least it won't eat me.'
"Hehe It likes you doesn't it?" Yao Ya spoke up a bit as she watch the slime tugging at me.
It kept tugging at me so I went to pick it up. Of course the weight doubled as well though and the size of the thing didn't help me look around either. Once more I spot another slime, this time it's orange.
Placing it nearby the same scene repeated itself as the purple slime assimilated it into itself. Yet this time something a little different happened. Instead of expanding once again, it began to compress itself. From over half a meter it slowly shrank and shrank until it reached a size of around 15 centimeters in diameter.
The only difference between this form and the previous one besides the size was that the central opaque mass seemed more congealed into a sphere like form.
'Did it just create a core for itself? Hmm at least it's smaller now.'
Once that process had been completed it dashed toward me. Before I could even process what it was doing it clung onto my leg and began to swiftly climb up me. In a couple of seconds it reached my right shoulder.
Once there it started to rub it's body against my cheek. As it did so I began to pet it's.. head? After 5 seconds it still didn't stop so neither did I. Only after ten full seconds did it start to gradually slow down to a halt.
"Wow! It really does seem to like you! Are you going to bring it back with us?" Yao Ya asked wile standing on my left.
"..Yeah I will, I've decided! It will come with us." Glancing at the slime it still seemed so energetic atop my shoulder. "Do you thin there are any more slimes in this place?" I asked while scanning the room.
"Well, you haven't checked inside the forest yet. Do you want to see if there is any in there?" Yao Ya pointed out towards the depths of the forest.
"Alright, let's check it out." As soon as she pointed it out I began walking into the forest with my purple slime.
After a while of walking through the forest I started seeing the walls of the room close into a corner. When I made my way there two slimes of opposite coloring seemed to be moving around near another fucking statue of that man from before.
One of them were black while the other was white and they just kept chasing each other in a circle. The size either one was about bigger than a quarter of a meter, yet less than half. I couldn't exactly tell from the distance I was at, but either way if they combined they would probably be bigger then when purple was still in it's form before the compression.
The purple slime jumped off my shoulder at a fairly quick speed, landing a few meters away from the Yin and Yang slimes. When the plop of the purple slime was heard the Yin and Yang slimes stopped and began looking at the purple one.
The size of the two slimes obviously towered over the purple slime. The scene looked like the beginning of a boss battle. I felt like boss music would be playing any moment now and it would be perfect.
Immediately, purple slime slid forward towards the Yang one in particular. The two on the other side started sliding forward as well, almost like they knew they would be attacking each other the moment they met.
Suddenly, when they were within a quarter or so of a meter both the Yin and Yang slimes shot out a protrusion towards purple. It was like an arm that went for a grasping motion. Luckily purple dodged away from them with a rolling motion to the side.
It was almost like the game series Bright Conscious from the game company To software. One of the most iconic things from the game was the fact you could do a dodge roll and basically be invulnerable for a moment. But I'm pretty sure that invincibility frames don't exist in real life, in fact those slimes fighting in front of me shouldn't either. Hmm... maybe they do? I'm not going to test that shit though! Fuck that.
Also I should probably stop calling my future/current pet just by the color of it's body.
'Hmm... what would be a good name? First of all, it's a slime so it should probably be a gender neutral name. How about Zheng Da? Yeah, that seems good to me.
I'll tell it it's name whenever the battle is over and considering how eager it was to attack those two it has a plan right? Where did it even learn to do moves like that? Just a little bit ago it's only method of attack was to absorb. Also why didn't they just make more of those "arms," is it too taxing on their little slime bodies?
Maybe they just weren't strong enough for it to go all out like now. OR maybe it gained some kind of intelligence from eating all it's brethren. Or I'm just trying to process what I can't understand.'
While absorbed in my own thoughts I mindlessly watched the battle proceed. After Zheng Da rolled out of the way it launched an attack of it's own. A similar protrusion stuck out of Zheng Da, yet from the size it shrank itself down to the grapple hand of it wasn't as thick nor long as the Yin and Yang slimes.
Zheng Da's protrusion stuck onto the black one though and a small chunk of him disappeared. When the arm of Zheng Da touched the Yang slime, the Yang slime's arm retracted immediately and an arm appeared where the chunk was torn off, shooting out at Zheng Da.
The process happened about a dozen more times and Zheng Da even took a few hits. Then after another chunk was taken from the Yang slime, an arm shot out from both the Yin and Yang slime. The arms pierced each other though and then they began pulling towards each other and combining.
There is no denying the differences now, the bosses even had a second phase! Zheng Da saw an opening though, through transformation they were entirely focused on each other so Zheng Da got a bunch of free hits in and disrupted the transformation multiple times as a result. Zheng Da was focusing entirely on the Yang parts eventually leading to the boss having an extremely disproportionate amount of either slime.
If this was a game then this would 100% be a cutscene of the boss transformation. It's a shame for this "boss" that Zheng Da doesn't give a fuck though. All it sees are free hits and extra mass, probably.
It became a white circle with a black dot in the middle which probably made up around ten percent of the being. Once it reached that stage it immediately and quickly began morphing into a bipedal creature. Of course Zheng Da didn't let go of this chance either and started taking parts of the leg as well.
Even though Zheng Da was taking in parts of the two slimes it didn't seem to be getting bigger though. Where did the new mass go, into the core? After a few more hits it finally seemed to finish it's morphing or at least that's where it seemed to stop for a bit. It vaguely resembled the structure of a humanoid toddler, yet the entire body was squirming and writhing.
It was slightly unsettling the shape it took, and now I was going to watch it be consumed by Zheng Da. The arms of the humanoid figure wept down to catch or take a chunk out of Zheng da. It of course rolls away to it's other leg and immediately begins attacking the humanoid's ankles.
From the amount of attacks it used against the ankle I half expected the figure to fall down and expose some sort of weak spot, like the remaining black slime, for Zheng Da to get a critical hit from.
