'Whoa! Man, Yao Ya is so cool; She only two moves to win that round! Although I've already seen her do this many times before it still fascinates me that she's so strong. The fluidity of those moves from one another were both elegant and efficient.
How did she get so strong so quickly? Was the potential shown before really that important to cultivation?
The protagonists in manhua could be in random spectrums whenever it comes to this. They could be anywhere from the bare minimal to even start cultivating to basically the god of potential power.
In the end though none of that matters right? Usually it would get to some point where, the testing of potential power is so obscure or useless to know that it's never referenced again.
I wonder when that point will be for me? I should probably stop thinking about those protagonists of other stories or else I might start becoming envious of their entire non-existence life.'
"Brother Li, these seats will surely bring out our good fortune! Maybe she'll pay our section of seats some special attention this time.
I heard that the people who sat over there even had Sister Yao smile at them yesterday! After that only a few people left those seats and went home to recover. The moment those seats became open immediately went over and were swept up by other, which even led to a small fight."
"Seriously? They fought over seats that were gazed upon? That sounds stupid, but I do feel a little protective about my seat now that you say that."
An old man flies into the air quieting down the entire area. The elder hovers for a minute before speaking to the crowd.
"This concludes the qualifiers, for those who have passed there will be a welcome ceremony in two days. "Now for the first match. Disciple Ip and Disciple Chen, please step up to begin the match."
He lowered his altitude as he spoke finally reaching the ground with his two feet.
'He changed the way he announced us! He called our names instead of the lifeless numbers assigned to us before. '
The competition ahead might get a little more aggressive now that a reward is involved.
..
Once I've made it to my end I noticed there was something different about the opponent before me. He had a slight smile as he prepared to cup his hands.
"Greetings brother Ip, I hope we get along from now on.."
I was slightly startled by the gesture. None of the other opponents have spoken to me before the match has started before. In response I cupped my hands as well.
"Greetings brother Chen, I hope we do as well."
My movements were a little stiff as I tried to mimic his gesture. I hadn't actually preformed this move in years. My early years of childhood are the only times I remember doing this; Once I moved to the country of Manifest handshakes replaced it as a greeting.
By now the elder responsible already knew of the weapons we would have preferred. A sword flew towards me as a saber flew towards him. Once we both got a hold of our weapons the elder spoke the word that had been said the entirety of yesterday.
"Begin"
As I took my first step I saw he had already started sprinting towards me, his saber grasped by both hands atop his right shoulder.
When we clashed around the center of the stage he swung downward while I swung horizontally toward his waist.
Neither of our motions stopped as they sped to their target.
'Shit, shit, shit he's determined! I guess I got to full send it as well.'
*Ugh*
As our strikes hit their mark we both groan, albeit his was barely audible.
He had slashed my chest while I managed to hit his side. Pulling back our weapons he stands a little straighter as he looks at me.
"That was a nice exchange brother Ip, let's get serious now."
As he spoke his weapon was slowly ignited with a few flames.
'Damn, it seems like everyone uses fire here. How popular is this element? It is a pretty cool element though.'
Seeing those flames slowly burning around the blade I tighten my grip on my own while also covering my weapon in Qi.
He sent a horizontal wave of flames towards me around the height of my waist. Due to the position of the flames the only way to dodge it was to either go under it or over it. If I tried going to the sides I wouldn't have enough time.
'Could I use my Qi infused sword to destroy the waves?'
I wanted to find out, besides I don't believe I could really get too far. Getting into the inner disciples was all that was needed.
When the flaming wave came close I slashed the wave down and it dissipated before me.
'Nice'
Before I could really celebrate too much I saw more and more slowly appearing until there was seven of them.
'Ok, ok, ok I just have do what I did earlier. There's no problem with that.'
As they got close I started slashing wildly towards them until they all disappeared. Once I destroyed the last one I saw him barely a couple meter ahead of me. Before I could raise my sword though he had already hit.
I flew through the air a couple meter as my chest now had two hit upon it. Before I could get off the ground I saw a gleam as the tip of his blade was only a few inches away from my neck.
It was a interesting view as I looked up at him from the ground. The match had already been decided the moment I flew to the ground. He didn't just leave me on the ground and walk away though, instead he extended his hand out towards me.
Looking into his face I saw his dark yellow eyes and short black hair with a seemingly genuine small smile looking back at me. Although I was young and inexperienced, I felt that this man was reliable for some reason. I reached out grabbing onto his hand as he lifted me up back onto my feet.
"Brother Ip, I hold we can become friends. Thank you for going easy on me."
"Brother Chen, I appreciate this, but this battle was purely your own skill it has nothing to do with me."
A his eyes seemed to widen a little as we walked off stage together.
"Brother Ip, you may not know this, but I come from a servant house hold."
"Why did you bring that up?"
"Does it not bother you where I come from?"
"No? ..Why would it?"
My words seemingly affected him as he stopped walking with me. Looking back I saw him just stand there as he look at me.
"Are you okay?"
"You pass."
"Huh?"
