Bram flinched when someone touched his hand. He then stopped in his tracks and saw Clara holding his hand.
"I accidentally slapped you. Really!" said Clara, lying.
Yes, Clara did get angry and slapped Bram in the face. However, she was reluctant to admit her mistake because she had misunderstood Bram's joke. She did not understand that she could directly slap Bram. She was sure that Bram couldn't turn away from her. Bram was even infatuated with her.
It just so happened that there were red marks on Bram's cheeks. Don't know why, but Clara didn't see the mosquitoes on Bram's cheeks. She slapped Bram out of anger before Bram said that Bram had another dream woman. However, after hearing Bram's confession, Clara felt guilty but still, she was reluctant to admit her guilt for slapping Bram in the face.
Clara approached Bram, she gently stroked Bram's cheek.
"Sorry," Clara whispered with a sad face.
