Chapter 12 - The Meeting part 2

Just a reminder, most things in this book are not factual. It is merely based on the myth of Persephone and Hades. The book involves technologies not from the Greek era. Thanks!

"What was he doing that you couldn't have waited?" I bellowed.

"H-he was showing Gretchen where the bathroom is."

"Who might this little mouse be?" Nicholas asked, stepping toward her.

Blocking him with my arm I pushed him back.

"Protective are we?" Nicholas laughed.

"Maxton!"

Maxton ran into the room, "Y-yes sir?"

"Take her back now. I will talk to you later."

He nodded leading Persephone away.

"Who was that?" Nicholas raised an eyebrow.

"It is no of your business. Grab something to eat, you wanted to come here in the first place."

Opening the fridge he grabbed a piece of cheese.

"The little mouse likes cheese correct?"

Anger boiled inside of my chest. Grabbing his wrist, Nicholas dropped the cheese.

"You are not hired." I snapped, dragging him out the door.

His jaw dropped, "You care about her so much you betray your own cousin?!"

I smiled, "Even if we are related by blood it doesn't mean I owe you anything."

Slamming the door, I locked it and started heading for the back room.

Opening the door I walked in angrily.

"Maxton! Do you realize what you have done?!" I hissed.

"Sir I am so very sorry."

"It isn't his fault! I was just hungry." Persephone yelled.

I turned to her, "Nicholas is not going going to forget about this you know? Who knows what he will do."

I ran my hands through my hair.

"I'm sorry." She replied.

I wanted to hug her so bad, but I knew she hated me. She would probably slap me.

I turned and walked out of the room. Signaling for Maxton to follow me.

We walked to the office.

"Do you know what you've done?"

"Maybe he will forget about her and move back to Feya."

Shaking my head I replied, "No. If he knows what kind of goddess she really is…" I sighed, "Don't let him back in here ever again."

Maxton nodded then left, Leaving me alone in the office.

Leaning against the desk, I sighed. What have I done putting her in a situation like this. I thought I was saving her by bringing her here but I've only put her in more danger.
