"There is something important that I need to tell you," Mao Yong said to Xue as she placed a hand on Xue's shoulder to steer her to one of the chairs that faced Xue Jing's desk. Then, she sat on the chair beside the one Xue now occupied with such grace and poise.
Xue stared in awe at how the woman could switch from uncouth to classy and grateful in seconds. She was stunned but tried her best to hide her feelings. Xue wondered what Mao Yong could possibly want to discuss with her or to tell her. The woman rarely had anything good spoken about her. So Xue was confused down to her marrow.
Mao cleared her throat and Xue Jing thought about how dramatic she was being.
Xue has had it. She wanted this over with. Now, she was beginning to get irritated with the whole spectacle. She had work to do for crying out loud. It was way too early for trouble and perhaps gossip because what else would Mao Yong have to tell her?.
