Chu Yi immediately walked outside the car, ignoring the inquiring gazes of the other passengers.
Sure enough.
The rest of the train had started reversing. There was an subtle sense of time radiating in the air and with the rate at which the decay was flowing backwards. By the 5th day, the entire train would have been reversed back into a optimal condition.
And it also meant that all the deadly monsters that had broken out at that time, would come crawling back into the light.
No one here was dumb and after Zhong Feng took the initiative to explain it to them, the blood drained from their face.
So that's why the food they had been given could only last five days. By that time, the train would have fully reversed and there would have been no need to scrounge for their own provisions but it also meant that there was definitely something up with the food.
It may even have been what killed off the entire train. They needed to speed up the process.
Dan Bai was on the verge of a mental breakdown. There was something that he had deliberately opted from mentioning when they had been telling their story.
Wu Xin hadn't actually died immediately upon chancing on the tentacles and they didn't run back to her only after hearing her dying screams.
Instead, both him and Ren Yuanqing were actually on their way back to her when it happened.
Wu Xin wasnt the one who had been targeted by the damn thing, in fact it was Ren Yuanqing.
That timid newcomer that still stood tentatively by the door, had broke out with a sudden burst of strength at the sight of danger, grabbed onto the oncoming Wu Xin and flung her into the clutches of the bloody tentacle, instantly mauling her to death.
Her dreadful and painful screams as she was torn in half still rung callously in his ear.
"Kiddo, if yah don want' a be hurt. I'd suggest yah keep yah strap shut. Got it?."
The Ren Yuanqing that he had become familiar with was shattered. His voice metamorphosed into rough southern growl, the look on his face threatening a world of pain if he blew his cover. Eyes glinting darkly with cruelty.
Under threat, Bai Dan didn't blow his cover in front of the rest, but when the both of them left the car, Ren Yuanqing had stilled flashed a bloody knife across his throat.
Evidently be would be the first to die, if something were to happen.
As he slept, Wu Xin's despair and resentment filled eyes kept flashing in his head, her bloody mouth screaming at him, questioning why he didn't help her as she burrowed into his flesh. He struggled vehemently to get rid of the scrawny hands that tore into him but could only watch as she ripped his organs one by one from his torso.
He didn't want to do this.
It wasn't his fault.
Everywhere around him seem to come the cackling laughter of Wu Xin, she was-
She was going to kill him.
Limbs shaking, he glanced at the body on the floor and felt his heart stop.
For a split moment the corpse on the ground seemed to have superimposed with Wu Xin's face and was now staring back at him with cruel and wicked smile.
There was a thud, shocking everyone.
For some reason, Dan Bai had suddenly fainted right at the door, mouth frothing and limbs convulsing.
With a panicked look, Ren Yuanqing hurriedly supported his frame.
"Dan Bai had taken a big hit from Wu Xin's death. I don't think he c-can continue. I'll take him back to the cabins first."
Ren Yuanqing didn't wait for anyone to voice objections, insisting on dragging Dan Bai out immediately.
It wasn't uncharacteristic for newcomers to be overwhelmed by fear and paranoia so the others didn't question it much, turning back to the dining cart.
Chu Yi glanced suspiciously at Ren Yuanqings scurrying figure before turning back to the kitchen.
He looked down on the paper in his hands. It was labeled Recipe in glaring letters yet it was not really a recipe.
Instead, It was a very detailed description of how a group of creatures had enjoyed themselves with a barbecue of human flesh.
[Their wine was fermented with blood, and within the soup was a stew of human bones, remnants of their skin drifted up and down in the boiling liquid. Some of them had flesh that hadn't yet fully broken apart, where one might be able to see what they looked like while still alive. The main course featured a beautiful live young woman. Her organs had been scrubbed clean, and yet she was made to barely hang on to life by sorcery. They cut slices directly off her body which were dipped in boiling soup, and while half raw with blood still seeping through, were eaten up with the accompaniment of agonized screams. At the end of the meal, all that was left of the young woman's two legs were the pale white bones, but she was still alive, and her face as beautiful as ever.]
This sounded more like a bloody folklore used to scare young children into being good but ith3 implications of putting it under Recipes spoke wonders to the bloody horror of the train.
Click-
Suddenly, the lights went out.
The atmosphere immediately became tense and horrifying. If the lights were off then that means...
Only the sound of heavy breathing echoed in the silent room.
Only for a moment, then came the sounds of painful groans. Voice so weak, even screams failed to bubble to her throat.
Bai Chuan who had been standing on guard immediately felt his face change. It was Zhan Xi.
Because of the rule that you couldn't be left alone for too long, she had dragged her already dying body with them.
But now hearing these painful groans, it was obvious that her shadow had come out again to play.
Where there was light, there would always be shadow. He couldn't kill them all.
There was the frantic sound of shuffling as Bai Chuan fought to find his flashlight, Chun Li tried to calm Zhan Xi down and Zhong Feng was comforting Zhan Xi and doing his best to keep her from giving up.
Chu Yi..
Chu Yi , was being squeezed by a humongous tentacle.
