Chapter 64 - Chapter 69: Through North Carolina!

Arriving to the city of JinJunyë from the founder's mansion by six in the morning, the heirs of the heroic oath purlieu journeyed to Derek's home with his paternal grandfather, Philip J. Wiley. The retired vanquisher pondered something for a moment that came near the last minute as the team stood outside of the house. "Let me go in and grab my youngest grandson before we sort this situation out." Philip suggested before he grabbed his keys from his coat's pockets. Ryoh chuckled before he gave a comment. "Late chiffon awakening, huh?" Said the second eldest child of the family belonging to lightning. Philip looked back after finding his front door key on the chain. "Shush. He might be able to awaken next year, right now, you lot go hide in the back— I'll also explain the situation to Lidia!" Philip shouted though as low as he could as he made a shooing motion with his hand. Noa, Ansel, Amin, Reynard, Ryoh, Haoyu, Rue and the reluctant younger brother of the leading figure for their search for the eldest heir of the Wiley family, Wilel Williams, each followed Settembre and Fenella to the backyard they were commanded to hide out.

The heir team heard Derek's youngest brother asking questions with a curious tone directed towards his grandfather. "Can we go to MacRonalds?" Nick asked as he followed his grandfather to the car, he opened his door then unlocked Nick's door. Philip sat in the driver's seat then made sure Nick was situated before he started the engines. "Sure, sure. Why not Cindy's or Prince burger?" Philip asked his grandson as he checked the road behind him while pulling out as Nick slouched in his seat. Nicholas cringed from the thought of preferring those restaurants before he gave his answer. "Just way too expensive." Nick answered before he shook his head. Philip and Nicholas bumped fists gently twice. Lidia saw that her husband and grandson were out of sight then speedily walked to the back door and let the heir team inside for questioning.

Settembre felt the presence of the raconteurs since his first step on the house's front lawn, he silently rushed to the living room, ignoring the greetings of Derek's beloved grandmother as Noa greeted her along with the others on his behalf asking for her understanding then explaining why they wanted to see her. Ansel, Haoyu and Ryoh watched as Settembre communicated with the strange creatures to view a scene that he was desperate and hopeful would be a key clue to their current mystery behind his best friend's disappearance.

The team watched the figure of Derek's Grandmother, Lidia, interacting with two other mysterious figures. Settembre thought to himself as he stared at the floor. "Lidia taught me the importance of doors with peepholes. One or both of these figures must have been somebody that she deemed trustworthy or she definitely wouldn't have opened her door for them." Settembre thought to himself while standing down on one knee. Ansel walked up towards Derek's grandmother and called for her attention. "What exactly do you remember?" The eldest Pendold child asked his friend's grandmother Lidia.

Philip's wife sat down then gestured for Ansel to take a seat next to her before she answered while recollecting her memories. "Derek called me early in the morning, he said he wanted to visit a girl that he met years ago. As far as I know he's spending some time in Chicago with a broad that had purple hair." Lidia answered as she rested her chin on her knuckles as she sat forward on the couch. Rue's attention went from her nails to Lidia after she heard her emphasize purple hair with a hateful tone. "You've got beef against women with purple hair?" The eldest Jepson daughter asked with a lowered tone. Lidia gave Rue a glare that forced her to stand down. Settembre held out his hand as the historical figures vanished into what he considers the unknown. "They're beautiful, playful and difficult sometimes." The Williams middle heir finished in his thoughts before he stood up and had vital information to share. Ansel, Haoyu, Ryoh, Noa, Rue, Amin and Reynard dashed and regrouped after Settembre called for them. Rue brushed her lengthy blonde hair with purple highlights before she asked her question. "What's up, Boss man?" Rue Jepson asked her friend.

Settembre looked at the floor as he thought about how to explain their next step best. "We're staying here in Chaelb for another few weeks— sometimes these guys want to test my patience. Quite literally, among other things, they can be difficult sometimes. We can head to Chicago afterwards if I'm wrong but I have a hunch that these figures mentioned a major clue, essentially there's a major clue that they can give if we're patient." Settembre informed his team as Noa recognized the confident expression he held on his face towards the end. Ansel gave him a thumbs up. Rue walked away to the cookie jar on the kitchen counter when she noticed that everyone's attention was occupied. Haoyu grunted as he nodded his head. Amin, Reynard, Ryoh and Settembre bumped fists before Settembre informed the team that they'll stay at his and Derek's hideout.

Jayden entered the room that he was comfortable fulfilling his portion of seer Lisha's pivotal plot. "Hey, hero!" Jayden greeted the unconscious hero who was placed on the most comfortable bed that he had requested personally for the hero that he was speaking beside. "Man, you've grown since the last time that I actually saw you awake. So hopefully, you've become so incredibly skilled that you can even take me down. This is for you. Settembre and Noa. Your family. My family. The Pendold clan. The Hayes family. The Manchester family. The Jepsons. The Throndson family. The Hyun family— even if they've been moved out of the oath. I'm doing this for all of the rest of the families that stand no chance of having a future without you— what we have to do to you and we'll keep the pressure of this off your shoulders and place it on ours. I'll keep this from you for as long as possible, the security of everyone's fate requires it but if you ever find out I'm just hoping that you could one day understand it. At the least. I don't expect you to forgive this. Definitely not." Jayden spoke to the hero lying on the bed with unfeigned guilt yet he found himself feeling steadfast in the decision that forced the guilt for the goal. Mlungisi walked through the halls and into the seer's chamber to check on Jayden's progress. Jayden informed him that he needed a rest after hours of dealing with the raconteurs.

The team of the eldest of the heroic oath families entered one after another into Settembre and Derek's hideout located in one of Chaelb's most esteemed public libraries in the North Carolina city. Ansel noticed the collection this library had of philosophical projects with many intellectual authors and his eyes lit up. "Oh my goodness— c'mon, you guys were able to get your hands on loads of Jawn Howard's incredible every fallacy in-depth?!" The toad's companion asked as he sprinted towards it. Rue shook her head as she witnessed him sprinting like the love of his was a book while she stood near Amin then cuddled next to him. The team settled into the library within a week or two and had to make compromises and improvisation regarding sleeping and space during their stay then close to a month flew past them. Wilel heard his brother, the woman that he found the second most annoying, Noa Hayes and a few of the others who were laughing and giggling loudly when he returned to the library. The rest of the team were surrounded by children and teens visiting with their parents who were beside them as Settembre told stories the entire afternoon regarding historical figures. The heroic oath's Williams family's second son soon noticed that his brother went into the back room where the entrance of the hideout had been located. Settembre followed the heroic oath's Williams family's third son and watched as his younger brother sat in his chair and stared at his PC setup. The second child noticed the expression that he used his impressive attentiveness to figure out that his younger sibling only forms when he's immensely puzzled by something lost on him. Settembre entered the room then began leaning in the doorway with his arms crossed. "The impersonator that's been running around as you stretching that string thin reputation as a hero nestling that mind of yours?" Settembre asked his youngest brother. Wilel continued glaring at him for a moment prior to deciding to answer his question with good faith. "The mystery has been on my mind since you originally brought it to my attention— I'm feeling confident that I got one half of this solved, man." Wilel informed him in an uncertain tone despite what he said. Settembre looked at a nearby bookshelf in the room that he technologically assists Derek on the field in, before looking back toward him. "Out of character for you to feeeeel anything but I'm curious if you're actually a skillful investigator when you aren't as confident in yourself? Ready to hear it." Settembre remarked with slight sarcasm Wilel detected. The third son leaned forward in his older brother's chair, fingers clasped and his chin resting on his knuckles. "Jayden is in cahoots with a mastermind behind Derek's abrupt abduction." Wilel posed forward with a grim tone. Settembre's expression told Wilel that his brother was not ready. Settembre back a step away as he shook his head and gestured denial. "You've developed a very strange passion for accusing others of life ending crimes, little bro." Settembre replied with contempt in his tone. Wilel glared in his direction. "Derek Wiley is guilty. Reynard Jono is guilty. That Amin fella whose last name that I'm unaware of right now— each are guilty and right now the evidence I haven't shown the others prove me right. They'll face justice for lying to the oath while they're in the process of covering up their crimes." Wilel declared as he glared viciously toward him. Settembre shook his head as he heard the voice of a raconteur appear on his shoulder as it whispered in his ear. "I've got more stories for you but you're lucky I've got somewhere to be right now." Settembre replied as he left the room. Wilel briefly debated with himself over following along with his older brother or investigating a book that caught his eye with familiar initials on the spine he saw from the side of his eye directly after Settembre turned around and ambled on. Settembre arrived at the home of his best friend's grandparents within the day's evening after calling the former and elderly Patriarch of the home to be safe. He grabbed the spare house key in a tree decoration to enter, the home was empty so he warmingly explored the family photos as he passed them by gripping onto his notebook. He performed the same process of bonding the lemon chiffon essence innate in every extraordinary family member in the heroic oath with the raconteurs near the Wiley family's couch and saw a conversation. The taller melanin filled suspect spoke confidently to his cohort. "When that dolt finishes wiping everyone's memories and remaking our focus, you'll drop the bag at the steps of the church of the limitless navy in South Carolina then report back to us." Settembre heard the suspect reveal as the raconteurs shrunk and rested on him, the top of his head and his shoulders as he kneeled to maintain the bond with the raconteurs, his composure and sway his lemon chiffon energy. Settembre heard a muffled voice approaching from the dining room which drove him to wipe away his power assuming Henry was arriving.
