"I hope my coming doesn't bother you," he said. "Of course not. On the contrary, thanks for coming," she said as she wrapped her hand around his waist and together they walked inside.
On reaching the inside of the prison, Li Fei suddenly became nervous and Jin Liwei felt her body stiffen as her steps slowed down.
"Anything wrong?" he asked. "No. I just remembered the time I spent here," she replied. "I'm here. You shouldn't worry about anything. If you're not ready then we can go back." "No, let's go," she said and they walked in.
Reaching the visitation room, they took a seat across a table and she saw some farmiliar faces of some prisoners where some recognized her. Telling the guard the person they had come to see, he left to fetch her for them.
Looking at the place where Li Fei had spent four years, Jin Liwei was reminded of the horrible person he was, not that he had ever forgotten. Not only had he locked up here but also paid the warden to make her life a living hell.
Apart from Li Fei being pregnant, he had refused her coming to this place because somewhere he was scared that she will have a change of heart when she comes back to this place and remembers everything she went through because of him.
Just then, Li Fei caught sight of Liu Han who was being brought by none other than the prison warden, the woman who made her life a living hell in this place.
She noticed that the warden paused when she saw her, as if she was surprised to see her with Jin Liwei. A while later, she proceeded and brought Liu Han to where they were sitting.
The warden smiled at her and said," I didn't expect to see you here." When she looked at Jin Liwei, he glared at her and she realized that she had to leave. She looked at Li Fei and said," Tell me if she misbehaves."
When she left, Li Fei turned her eyes to look at Liu Han who had bruises all over her face.
"I guess you came to mock me," spoke Liu Han. "Yes. And something more," she said before looking at Jin Liwei and asked for some privacy. Hesitantly, he stood up and gave Liu Han a warning look before leaving them.
A long while later after having a conversation, Jin Liwei saw Li Fei stand up and leave the prisoner before coming to where he was.
"You're done?" he asked and she nodded.
"Are you fine?" he asked. "More than ever," she replied with a small smile.
While in the car, Li Fei realized that Jin Liwei was unusually silent. "Is there anything wrong?" she asked him. "No," he said, his eyes fixated outside. She placed her hand below his chin and made him look at her. "You forget I know you too well. Tell me."
He took a while to say," It's just that, after being in that place, I realized everything I did to you. I really don't- " "Jin Liwei, are we always going to dwell in the past? That is our past and nothing can be done about it. We are going to meet our daughter soon and we shouldn't be having any regrets," she said and he nodded. "Thank you. Did you know that I love you so much?" he asked and she grinned. "No. Show me," she said. "Your wish is my command," he said and gently pulled her to him before kissing her lips.
At night when Jin Liwei came out of his study, he was surprised to find her awake, speaking to her mother on phone when he had left her sleeping. When the call ended, she turned to him and said," I hate it when you work at home." "I wasn't working. I was just checking something," he said. "It's still the same thing," she said allowing him to hold her.
"I was wondering. What did you talk with that woman?" "Nothing serious. I was thanking her for trying to kill me that night because I found you. To be honest, I'm wondering how my life would be if that dreadful night hadn't happened. I wouldn't have been able to meet you." "Well, I suppose that we would have met in another way still because I believe in fate and destiny."
She nodded and she started thinking.
If the accident hadn't happened, then maybe his wife would have died while giving birth and, Oh God, what was she thinking?!! She internally scolded herself for thinking that way.
"FeiFei," he called softly and she looked at him. "Yes?" she answered. "I-I have something that I have been wanting to tell you for a long time," he said. "Is it serious?" she asked. "Very," he replied and she sat up and he followed suit. "Tell me." "I honestly don't know to start. I am scared of how you're going to react," he said. "You're scaring me right now Jin Liwei. Tell me." "I'm sorry okay I will tell you. You remember the accident?"
"Of course. How can I forget such a horrible thing? I nearly lost you," she said looking at him. "Uh, the thing is...I really don't know how to say it," he said. She cupped his face with both hands and said," It is okay. You can tell me anything. I won't judge you."
"That's the problem," he said. "What?" "You're just so good to me and all I do is mess up over and over again," he said clearly infuriated with himself. "How many times have I told you that I love you the way you are. With all your flaws, I vowed to accept you. Spit it out," she said. "Okay. I will tell you but don't leave me," he said and she nodded. "The truth is that, I never had any accident in the first place. It was all a lie to get you back. I'm so sorry," he said. "What? I'm not understanding a thing you're saying. You were clearly hurt. You had wounds and blood. The doctors- " "All that was fake. I bribed them all to lie to you. I was so desperate to get you back," he said and she became silent, looking at him.
"Don't be silent. Please say something," he said and the next reaction was something he hadn't expected. She burst into endless laughter and he looked at her confused.
