"Jiang, I want to ask for a favor," Li Fei told him. "Anything," he said. "Please don't tell mother anything, not even that I'm here," she stated.
"When are you planning to inform her then?" "I will tell her when I'm fine. I don't want to worry her especially if.... she warned me beforehand. This is my problem." "Okay. I won't tell her," he promised.
A while later, he decided to leave as his wife was waiting for him home. "You know that I am always here for you. And don't hesitate to tell me whenever you feel like moving in with us," he said pulling away from the hug and she nodded.
...
In the evening, Jin Liwei came back to the house for the first time ever since Li Fei left.
As he was making way towards the room, Yin Chen stopped him.
"Young Master, it has been long," she said and he only nodded. "Ah, Li Fei's belongings were picked by her friend, Liling," she informed and he nodded before saying," I will be going to rest. Have a good night."
"Young Master, wait," she said since he had began walking away. When he looked at her, she said, "I heard everything that happened. Why did you do it?"
"Do what?" he asked.
"Saying that everything was planned. Why did you do it when it's clear that you both love each other?" He took a while to say,"Sometimes things don't end up the way we want or expect them, isn't it?" "But your case was different. I believe there was a better way to solve things."
"How I wish that was the case Yin Chen," he said walking away and she said," Your mother called today asking why you're not answering her calls and that Li Fei's phone is off." "I will take care of that," he said and continued to his room.
Reaching the room, he realized how empty looked and felt without her in it. The only trace of her ever being in the room was her lingering scent that was left. He walked to the closet and realized that all her things were missing. He had thought that doing this will help in easing his conscience but he was wrong. As his eyes swept the empty shelves of the closet, he caught sight of something and went to pick it. It was her white lace nightdress and they might have missed it while packing.
He brought it close to his nose and inhaled her intoxicating scent. It somehow calmed him down and he felt as though he was close to her. Walking towards the bedroom, his eyes scanned the bed on which they had made love countless times every night. He couldn't believe that all that was left in memories. He realized that being in this place was not helping him at all. Folding the night dress, he left the room with it, never to come back.
...
The next day when Jin Liwei was in office, Bolin, his secretary came in and said," Sir, there's a gentleman who requests to see you. I told him that you're busy but he insists that he will create a scene if you don't talk to him."
"Is he called Li Jiang?" he asked. "Exactly sir," he replied. Well, he wasn't surprised because he had been anticipating his visit. Before he could tell him to let him in, Li Jiang came on his own and when he entered the office, he said," You have the nerve, Jin Liwei! You're so shameless!" Bolin gave him a surprised look. He dared to talk to the Boss like that?! Seeing the calm look on the Boss's face, he said," Sir, do you need me to call security?" "No need. Just leave," he said and he immediately dashed out of the office.
Looking at Jiang, he said," Have a seat, Mr Li Jiang." "You're heartless. You're a monster," he said glaring at him. "I was expecting your visit," he said instead. "I always knew something was not right with you but I helped you because I love my sister. Tell me, was it you who poisoned her through the maid?"
Internally sighing, Jin Liwei replied,"I don't like your sister but I don't wish her death. I just wanted her to feel how I felt. To answer your question, it wasn't me," he said.
"And you expect me to believe someone like you? Only cowards like you play with people's feelings," he said and Jin Liwei kept quiet.
"After everything you put her through in prison, you have the guts to hurt her again!!"
"If you want the shares as we had agreed, we can start with the transfer process right away," Jin Liwei said completely catching him off guard. What was he intending to gain out of it? His eyes narrowed at him and he asked," What are you plotting again this time?" "You can be rest assured that it's nothing. I just want to honor my promise."
"You don't have the moral authority to talk about honouring promises. And you think that just because you have money and a name, you can do everything you want?!"
"How is she?" Jin Liwei asked instead. Jiang's lips twitched and he replied, "She's with the person she was supposed to be with in the first place. The only one who has ever loved her. And why do you ask? Leave her alone and let her live her life in peace."
"So, she's staying at Yan Jianyu's house?" he asked for confirmation.
"Exactly," he assured and Jin Liwei nodded. It pained him but he had nothing to do about it.
"If that is all you wanted to say, the door," he said pointing towards the door and Jiang sent a glare at him.
"It does not not end here Mr Jin Liwei. I will make sure that you regret it even if it's the last thing I do," he said before leaving his office.
A long while later, Bolin once again came in to his office.
"Sir, Ms Jin is here to see you," he reported. Just what he needed for his mother to come!
A while later, she came in with a grim expression on her face.
"Why ain't you picking up my calls?" she asked the moment she sat down. "I'm sorry but I was busy lately."
"So busy to pick up your mother's calls?!" she exclaimed. "Forgive me," was all he said.
