Talking to Xinyi, she assured him that her parents were free to visit his mother the next day and he was glad. Informing the two, they all agreed that they were hosting Xinyi's parents tomorrow.
"You seem to be happy," Li Mei commented the moment she brought the spare sheets to the guest room where Li Fei was going to sleep. "Really?" she asked and she nodded. She had to admit that Jin Liwei made her happy, infact so happy that she was glowing. She had never seen her in this state during the time when she was with Jianyu.
"Honestly mother, I'm happy. He treats me so well even when I mess up," she said remembering the drug incident.
"As much as I don't approve of him, I have to admit that he takes good care of you," she said.
It somehow pained her and she said," Give him a chance mother. I would love to see the two of you get along. Sitting down together and having a normal conversation..." "I don't think that will ever happen but nonetheless, I'm happy for you. We should have enough rest since we are getting up early," she said getting up.
"Okay. Good night Mom," she wished her.
"Good night too dear," she replied leaving the room.
As planned, they woke up very early in the morning and started preparing for the visitors.
Seeing the way her mother was all over the place for her soon to be in-laws, Li Fei wondered if a day would ever come and she reacts the same way for her and Jin Liwei.
She knew that it was almost impossible but hoping a little would never hurt, right?
Around noon, Xinyi arrived with her parents and they were led inside, where the Li family was waiting for them.
The elders engaged in a serious conversation as the rest were only listening, answering when asked.
"If both the children love each other, I don't see why we don't hold a wedding as soon as possible," Li Mei said. "I totally agree on that," replied Xinyi's mother.
Talking about the marriage, they agreed that they were first having a registered marriage until Xinyi gives birth and then, a grand wedding will be organized.
"That is settled then. When should they do the registration?" asked Xinyi's father.
"Tomorrow," Li Jiang blurted and the elders gasped. "Come on. Tomorrow is...so soon," his mother in law commented. "I don't think Xinyi is prepared. Xinyi dear, are you willing to get married tomorrow?" asked Li Mei but much to their surprise, she nodded before saying," Yes. I'm ready."
"Well, it seems like both of them are eager to get married," Li Mei could only comment.
"That is so sudden," replied her father. "But it doesn't require much preparation. Only to book a place in which to celebrate after the registration and I will handle that," offered Li Mei.
The girl's parents shared a look as though having a silent conversation and the man finally said," Okay. They will get married tomorrow."
Mentioning the dowry they wanted, Li Jiang agreed to it. When everything was settled, the three left the house and Li family started preparing for the marriage registration the next day.
As the three were standing at the civil affairs waiting for Xinyi and her parents, Li Mei said," How I wish your father was here to witness this. It had been always his dream to see the two of you getting married and having your own kids."
At those words, Li Fei wiped the tear that had rolled down her cheek. She realized that she truly missed him.
"I'm sure that wherever he is, he is watching and I have his full blessings," commented Li Jiang.
"Yes. You're right," she said. "They are here," Li Fei said and they looked at the car that had just pulled over.
Before she could get into the offices with the couple, Li Fei heard her phone vibrating and she saw that Jin Liwei was the one calling.
She immediately picked it up," Are they done with the registration?" "No. They are just going," she informed. "Okay. I'm leaving Korea in an hour," he informed her and it was then she realized that a week had passed.
"I'm sorry. I won't be there to welcome you from the trip but I will join you the moment we finish this. Tomorrow morning probably," she said and before he could reply, her mother called her and she said," I have to go, have a safe journey, bye."
The registration process took almost an hour and after, they headed to the hotel they had booked for the dinner.
It was a half past seven when they reached the hotel and among the few invited guests was Jianyu who arrived with a few employees of Li enterprises.
Jianyu was pleased to see Li Fei at the party and he took a seat just next to her as they ate.
After the dinner, there was a little music and Jianyu asked for a dance which Li Fei politely rejected.
"How is Shanghai?" he asked. "Not bad. How are you?" she asked back. "As usual. When should we expect your wedding?" he asked. "I don't know. But it will come," she replied and he nodded. "I hope he treats you well," he said.
"In the best way possible," she said and he nodded before saying," That is great."
Just then, her cell rang and she saw that it was Jin Liwei.
Walking away, she picked up," Tell me where you are." "Why?" she asked. "I'm in Beijing right now," he let her know. "What? Why? Ain't you supposed to be in Shanghai?" she asked him surprised. "I missed you so much and I decided to come for you. You don't want it?" "Of course I do. We are at Penwood hotel. I can't wait to see you," she said smiling and he told her that he was coming.
