Since then, a rift came between Li Fei and her mother. The two did not talk to each other and the latter became more strict than ever. She confiscated her phone such that she gets no opportunity of speaking to that man.
Finally, a week passed and it was her time to be discharged. The doctor made various tests on her and they confirmed that she was alright. They also prescribed some medicine for her and finally, they were ready to go.
Walking to the car, Li Fei sat at the back with Liling and Li Mei at the front while Li Jiang was the one driving. "Have you not gotten anything yet about Zhan?" Li Mei asked. "Not yet mother. We are looking for her everywhere but we have failed to see her," he explained before adding," But we are doing everything possible." "That vicious woman," Li Mei muttered.
The rest of the drive was silent and when they reached home, Li Fei and Liling went to her room. "I want to go check on Jing Yue. Will you be alright?" she asked. "Yes, I will be fine." "Do you want to speak to him? I will call him," she said. "No. Just tell him that I was discharged," she said sitting on the bed.
Her mother refused to give the phone back to her. "Okay. I don't know when but I will be back," she said and gave her a brief hug before leaving.
Li Fei locked the door and she went to sit on the floor. Now that she was alone, she had her personal space to cry as much as she wanted.
Ever since she found out about the miscarriage, she felt as though it was her carelessness that led it. Perhaps if she had been more careful, she would still be carrying her baby. Or if she had been more attentive, she would have known that she was pregnant soon. She cried her eyes out, as her hands hugged her knees. She knew that however much Jin Liwei acted strong, he was deeply hurt because it was the third time he was failing on becoming a father all because of her.
...
"How is she?" Jin Liwei asked Liling the moment she reached. "Not so good. She looks sad." Jing Yue who was sipping on his tea said, "It will be harder for you two to communicate now." "I will think of a way," he replied. "Haven't you got hold of the maid?" Liling asked. "Not yet. She might be hiding somewhere and someone is helping her," said Jin Liwei. "That makes it so difficult," she said.
A while later when it was time for dinner, the Butler took Li Fei's meals to her room and he knocked a number of times but she couldn't answer. He went to Li Mei's bedroom.
"Mrs Li Mei, the young miss is not opening the door yet it's time for her food and medicine," he let her know.
"Let me come and check," she said and headed to her room.
Knocking on it a number of times, she said," Li Fei, I know you're in there! Open the door."
Still getting no response, she walked to the storage room and got the spare key to her bedroom and came to open the door.
She caught sight of her sleeping on the floor and quickly ran to her. "Li Fei!" she called her panicking, thinking that she was unconscious. "I'm fine mother," she replied.
"Why didn't you open the door? You got us worried." "I'm sorry. It wasn't my intention," she replied.
"Get up from the floor. Your food is also here. It's time for your medicine," she said.
"I'm not going to eat." "Why? You can't take your medicine on an empty stomach."
"I won't take the medicine either." "Why?" she asked.
"What's the purpose of a healthy life when I can't be happy?" she asked. "You think you can blackmail me with those lines? Fine then, if you don't want to eat and take medicine, I will let you be," she said before standing up to leave.
On leaving her room, she went to Li Jiang's room and said," You should go and speak to your sister. She's saying that she's not going to eat and take her medicine." "Why's that?" he asked. "Because of that man," she said and recalled something before taking a seat at the couch," Now that I remember, you mentioned that he came to meet you. For how long have you known this Li Jiang? And don't dare lie to me," she demanded. He took a while to say, "It was during that time towards father's retirement party," he said. "Wow! I can't believe it! You've been knowing about it for so long yet you never told me." "I didn't mean to keep it a secret. She asked me not to talk." "And you also decided to keep quiet about it. It is your fault we are here. Had you talked, maybe it wouldn't have bloomed to this. It would have been easier to separate them at that time."
"If you want my honest opinion mother, you should let them be- " "Stop right there! It will never happen, not when I'm still alive. After everything that man made her go through?" "It was all in the past. And as much as I hate to say it, that man loves her. She will only be happy if she's with him," he said and earned a glare from her. She left his room and headed to her own room.
Sitting on the bed, she wondered what she was going to do. She wished Li Bao was here with her. Could she perhaps send her to her grand parents' place in Japan? But it will be useless. Knowing that man, he will get to her anywhere she might be.
After finishing with what he was doing, Li Jiang went to Li Fei's room. "Eat something Li Fei," he said. "I don't want." "For your health, eat."
"No." "I don't think Jin Liwei will be happy knowing that you didn't eat anything. He just called to ask how you are," he said. "Just tell him I ate and I'm fine." "Why don't you just eat something already?" he insisted. "I don't have any appetite," she said. "So you're not taking your medicine either?" "Yes," she replied. "If you say so. I will let you rest," he said before leaving her room and she remained laying on the carpet.
