Two hours later, the movie came to an end and Li Fei stretched out her body but in the process, her black camisole pulled up revealing her navel and Jin Liwei didn't fail to catch on it. "It was nice, wasn't it?" she asked and he shook his head. "Why? Is it because it has a sad ending?" she asked and he shook his head again. Towards the end of the movie, the vampire attempted to turn the girl into one of them but the process was unsuccessful, and she died. The vampire was so frustrated to the point that it cursed it's immortal life for it couldn't die to join her.
In the end, it decided to become an enemy of it's kind in hopes that elder vampires will find a way of ending it's miserable life. "What then?" she asked and before he could answer, she said," You didn't touch your popcorns. Don't you like them?"
"It is past one in the morning. You should go to sleep," he said getting up.
Li Fei felt a certain urge to ask him to stay, but she couldn't, even though she wanted. "Have a good night Mr Jin Liwei," she told him and he nodded before exiting the room.
He didn't like the movie for simply one reason.
With such an ending, it was like a reminder that the two of them couldn't be despite the growing feelings. He therefore decided to take action before the matter gets out of hand.
One and a half weeks later, Li Fei had completely healed and she asked Jin Liwei if she could report back to work but he rejected.
She stayed home the whole time therefore, on phone and doing chores with Yin Chen. Liling would also visit her at times.
On one weekend, Jin Liwei spent the day home. On knowing this, Li Fei had anticipated to at least catch a glimpse of him but it hadn't happened although it was in the afternoon.
After having lunch, she was decided to do some general cleaning in her room to kill off the boredom when she heard a knock on her door before it opened and a maid came in.
"The Young Master asks for your presence in his study room," she said and Li Fei nodded.
She loosened her hair that she had tied into a bun while cleaning before beginning to walk.
She wondered why he would call for her in his study room because it has never happened.
She just wished it wasn't anything serious.
Reaching the door, she knocked on it once before opening it and she found him sitting gazing at the door.
He signalled her to take a seat which she did.
She didn't know why she had a bad feeling about this.
After a while, he asked," How are you?" "I'm okay Mr Jin Liwei. Thanks for asking. How have you been?" she returned the question to him. "I'm alright," he said and took a while to say," It's been four months since you've stayed here, isn't it?" She nodded and he continued," I believe that each one of us has hurt the other in different ways which makes it even. I don't think anyone of us owes the other an apology. Don't you think?" Li Fei didn't like where the conversation was going but nonetheless, she nodded to it. "Great. I therefore declare that I set you free. I have realized that keeping you here, won't solve anything. Whenever you're ready, you can leave. You're free to live your life the way you want, without explaining to anyone. To fall in love, get married and have kids, just like a normal person. I'm letting you go, Li Fei. All I can say is I wish you the best in life."
Li Fei couldn't believe her ears. He literally told her to leave his house. He just kicked her out of his life. Wait, wasn't she supposed to be happy? That she was finally free? Didn't he say he wanted her to give him a child? What happened then? She couldn't come up with the words to reply for she was surely caught off guard.
Watching her dazed state, he understood that she was shocked for she didn't expect it. Anyone would be. "That was all I wanted to say," he said and it's when she got out of her stupor. "Uhm... I'm sorry for taking long to answer, it's just that I didn't expect it. I don't have much to say, just to thank you for everything you've done for me. For getting me out of prison, for returning everything to my parents, for giving me shelter, for saving me from Caihong. I can't possibly list them all but I want you to know that I really appreciate and....I will always remember you. I wish I had a way to repay- "
"As I said, none of us owes the other anything.
We've done so much to each other which makes it even," he said.
"I would like to excuse myself if that's all Mr Jin Liwei," she said and Jin Liwei replied," Sure."
On reaching her room, Li Fei locked the door and leaned on it before slowly slumping to the floor. She didn't realize when tears started spilling from her eyes. She had been so comfortable that she forgot that she was nothing to him. She had forgotten that she was just kidnapped on coming to this house.
But it hurt her so much.
After crying her eyes out, she went to her bed and wrapped herself in the covers. The moment she had been fearing had finally come.
She spent the rest of the day in bed and later on, Yin Chen came to inform her that dinner was ready.
"I won't be joining you for dinner, Yin Chen," she said still wrapped in the covers. "Why? Is anything wrong?" she asked. "No, I don't have the appetite. I just want to sleep," she replied spiritless. "Okay. Don't hesitate to tell me if you need anything."
Li Fei laid on the bed with her eyes wide open.
She didn't know when she was supposed to leave. Honestly, she couldn't picture a life without Jin Liwei in it. She didn't care about the relationship they both had. Just seeing him in a day was okay for her.
