.....
The streets were empty after the heavy downpour leaving the roads wet and slippery as an aftermath. No one was in sight since most people had gone inside to seek shelter. From a distance, the sound of a screeching car could be heard that seemed to be at a high speed.
In the car, the drunk Li Fei sat at the driver's seat as she sang along the lyrics of the high pitched music while her two friends at the back had long passed out due to their low tolerance for alcohol. Along the same road, a heavily pregnant woman came out of the cafeteria and stood outside for a while and it was then that her eyes caught something across the road.
As Li Fei was driving, she stretched her hand to change the playlist and after she did, she sat upright only to realize that she no longer had control over the car. Did she step on the wrong brakes? She began panicking when she spotted a pregnant woman from a distance who seemed to be crossing the road. Fidgeting, she tried calling her friends but they had long lost their senses.
Jin Shan started making slow steps in the broad slippery road, careful not to trip. When she reached the middle of the road, she saw a speeding car coming towards her and in reflex, she started running backwards in hopes of retreating the road before it reached her but it was too late. When she realized that she couldn't escape this destiny, she wrapped her arms around her baby bump protectively and as the car approached her, it's lights striked in her face blurring her vision and in the next second, it came crashing right into her.
A few minutes after the accident, Li Fei who had hardly banged her head on the steering wheel felt dizzy with a warm liquid tricking from her forehead and on touching it, she realized it was blood. A few moments later, she heard sounds of people who seemed to have gathered and later the sound of an ambulance siren. Her dizziness intensified and she succumbed to darkness but not before hearing a large growl from a man who seemed to have lost everything.
* Flashback / Six hours ago /
Li Fei, Kim Nana and Hun Ting made way to Shanghai's most prestigious lounge. Reaching the entrance, the bouncers looked at them questioningly since they knew almost all the elites that visited the lounge. The two friends glanced at Li Fei who got out a black card and showed it to the bouncers. As soon as they saw it, they made way for them and the girls entered the lounge. Li Fei, the heiress of the Li family was an arrogant and spoiled brat. Her parents showered her with love and everything she ever wanted. She was dressed in a black dress that was of mid thigh length and her long black hair was left falling at her back. Making their way towards the counter, the three friends ordered a set of drinks and after that, they got a good spot to sit. They had come from Beijing to Shanghai for a vacation in order to celebrate Li Fei's victory. Being a socialite, she had secured a big endorsement deal which they had been fighting for with her worst enemy and number one competitor Liu Han.
They therefore decided to spend a week in Shanghai then after return back to Beijing. This being the last night in Shanghai, they decided to visit the most prestigious lounge, Bar Rouge. As they were still drinking, Li Fei's phone buzzed and on checking, it was her fiancee. She picked up the call," What is it?" "Li Fei, I've been calling you for a whole week!! Is this how you treat your fiancee?" asked Hu Feng
Li Fei rolled her eyes before saying," Pardon me, know one tells me what to do. I do whatever I want." Hu Feng then heard the faint music in the background and roared," Are in the bar Li Fei?!! Where the hell are you?" Li Fei didn't bother to explain and hung up then put her phone to silent mode. A few moments later, her phone buzzed and she saw that it was her mother calling. Probably that Hu Feng had called her parents and complained, in the end, she decided to ignore the calls. She resumed drinking with the girls and later they went to the dance floor.
It started to rain heavily outside but none of the girls was aware since they were lost in fun. When it clocked twelve, most people started leaving and that's when Li Fei realized that she was the only person left on the dance floor. She looked for her friends and she spotted them sleeping at the couch who seemed to have passed out long time ago.
She asked the bouncers for help and they placed them in her car before driving off to go to their hotel. She turned on the music and started singing along.
**End of flashback**
IMPORTANT TO NOTE: Jin Liwei's character is very cold and vexing in the beginning but as the story progresses, he is an extremely sweet and caring person.
