Prom was something we were all excited about. Haley and Jade were setting up there makeup and hair before going down stairs to lobby of the lodge. Our high school in Willow was very known for spending money for our prom. Making sure that we were going to have fun. But I wasn't very happy about this night. My friend Dawn decided that we shouldn't be friends, because I was depressed. He didn't help me when I was upset, but Jade told me to forget about him. To be myself and to be happy with life.
"Lize," a voice called out, " you should get ready."
"In a little bit," I replied with a fake smile.
"Okay, but Jade won't be happy I you don't get ready," Haley smiled.
"Sure thing Hayhay," I laughed.
She closed the bathroom door as I decided to take out my dark blue dress with black heels. I wasn't big on dresses and heels, but I could handle it for one night. Knowing Ace, James, Colt, and Ben will think different since I play sports with them sometimes. I was a tomboy who love videogames and sports. They would ask me wheres my tux and knowing that my mother force me to wear a dress.
Soon as I got my dress on and seen how pale white my skin was from being inside all the time. It seems to match with the dress and the same with my brown short hair. I wasn't like other girls with hair to their shoulders or just plain long. Mine was short like all the other boys do, but for Colt, who has his in a ponytail or short sometimes. But I preferred my hair like this for years, but mom always told me to be like a lady. She always forced me to wear dresses, skirts, and makeup. But most of the time they would end up ripped up and wash of my face. That was the thanks to the boys with letting me play sports with them.
Soon as I was ready with a simple eye makeup and was done, but Jade and Hayhay were still in the bathroom getting ready. So I thought of going down to see if Ace or James was down there to talk to.
"I'm going down to the lobby!" I called
"Okay, see you in a few minutes," Jade replied not opening the door. It was normal for them to block me out with girl stuff, so I went down to the elevator. Soon as I got out of my room and saw that Ace was doing the same.
"Wait up Ace," I called as he held the elevator door for me. Running over in heels was harder than I thought it would be. When I got close to the door I tripped and fell to the floor, hurting my ankle in the process. "Damn heels" I thought, but Ace just looked at me. He was holding back a smile and I knew I would do the same if he fell too.
"How's the view up there," I asked with a growl
"Just great, since my friend fell right in front of me," he laughed, but held up a hand for me to take it. But I didn't want to look weak in front of people, so I forced myself up and held back the pain in from my ankle. He wasn't surprised that I got up on my own.
"So how's your girlfriend and soon to be little one in your lives," I asked with a smile
"She doing fine, but was upset that she didn't get to go to prom this year." he sighed and run his hand through his dirty blonde hair.
"That's good," I laughed, "The baby's health is most important."
"I know you still want to be the aunt," he smiled
"You know it," I replied punching his arms as the door opened. We walked up and saw that James, Colt, and Ben were waiting with their other friends Martin, Ethan, Matt, and Patrick. They were all chill to be around with, but Ethan was an asshole to me and Jade most of the time.
"Look at the nerd," Ethan started to smirk, "who finally gets out of bed."
"And look at the jackass who smokes weed," I replied with a salty mumble, so he doesn't here it.
I know that we could go in and sit down or dance, but my ankle was killing me. So I walked in to sit down and play on my phone. But it ended with Hayhay taking it away and forcing my to dance with her and Jade. Pain shot every time I moved my ankle as I danced the night away. Lucky that Ace and James pulled me away to the table with Ben and them.
"Your ankle okay?" Martin asked
"No," I groaned in pain.
But it went didn't get far with the jokes and plans to play football next weekend. A blood curdling scream came from one of the girls as a boy threw up blood. Did he eat something with glass or was he sick? I didn't think of anything else, before his eyes turned dead white and blood shoot.
A low grumble came from his mouth as the teacher tried to help him. He look dead, but was alive at the same time. Soon as it happened. Other kids started to throw blood and people were starting to freak. Jade and Hayhay were with their friend Marry who seemed to be out of it.
"What's going on?" I questioned
"Not a clue, but it seems like that are having international bleeding or a disease of some kind," Ben replied. He was adopted from China by his parents, who were shockingly both doctors. So he would have an idea of what was going on with them or to figure out what was going on. But it didn't last long when a girl screamed in pain as the boy hopped onto her. Ripping her throat out with his teeth.
I knew that we had to get out of there quick. I didn't want to be food to the other kids on the floor with the same look he had. It was like a Zombie movie or game all over again.
"Get to the bus as quickly as you can," I said in a calm voice.
"Why," Ace replied
"Pretty sure all of us are going to die if we don't," I snapped as I got up to tell Jade, Hayhay, and Marry to do the same. Knowing that Jade saw the same thing, since we both played videogames together. But when I got there they were trying to get Marry to move. She was in shock and shaking every time Hayhay tried to do something. So I walked up telling them to get to the bus, before it was too late.
Tried to get other students to do the same, but they said that the teachers will deal with it or they ran out of the room before I get to say anything. I only got one person to go and it has to be fucking Dawn. They left and I saw that the bodies on the floor were moving once again. The girl who's neck was ripped out was back on her feet and slowly walking to the student left in the room. This point I had to get out without being bitten or causing my ankle to be worse.
I quickly walked towards the door and seen more of those things walking around the building. They were feeding on some of the staff and visitors. At that point I forced myself to run, but when I past some of them before tripped on a dead security guard.
"Damn Heels!" I screamed as I forced them off my feet. Realized that my ankle was turning black and blue with the pressure I had put on it. But looked to see the guard having gun in his hand. Never thought they were aloud to have these, but I was glad to have something.
I got back up with the gun in hand, but knowing that my ankle was going to fail on me again as I forced myself to the door. I didn't check to see how many bullets were in it, but I knew I could find some later. But soon I had to test it when one of those things tried to grab my ankle. I pointed and pulled the trigger. All I could hear was a loud bang as the thing laid there with no life this time. Not knowing that blood was on my dress and face, but I didn't care anymore. Pushing the door was a pain, but I saw the bus lights were on.
All I hope that Jade keeps them calm for right now. Walking over was becoming more difficult as I reached the bus doors. Banging on them made a few gasps as Hayhay looked at me and was scared. I was tired and covered in blood, but I didn't know if the keys to the bus was there or not. James opened the doors to ask if I was okay, but I push past him and sat down.
"Lize you okay?" Hayhay asked
"No!" I snapped, "I just killed one of those things and my fucking ankle hurts."
"Guess we should leave Brandson and head back for Willow Springs," Ace replied
"Yeah, but who knows how to hot wired a bus?" I said in a tired voice.
"Martin knows how," Colt said with a smile.
Soon after Colt said that, Martin looks at them with fear in his eyes. But everyone knew that he was good with computers and could hack into anything if he tried. So he walked over and messed with wires for a while.
I looked over and seen the building now having more people running out of, but the dead crawled right after. Looking for their next meal. The door was opened in the bus and they seen to notice us inside. Right now we were sitting duck till this bus was able to move. I quickly got up and closed the door, pointing the gun right at it. Martin better hurry up or we were chow for them.
"And done," he said in a confident voice as the bus roared alive again.
"Who knows how to drive?" I asked, since I didn't even have a clue.
"I'll do it for a bit, but we should find a place to rest," Colt said taking the wheel. I never knew how many there was of us left. There was about twelve or thirteen of us in the bus. So I sat down and rest for the night, holding the gun in my hand. Decided that it was time for me to be off my ankle.
