Chapter 20 - CHAPTER 20: MY TRIP

*KNOCK KNOCK*

Who's there I screamed at the top of my voice because of the out loud of music from neighbors. the joy getting done with the last paper of any examinations always calls for merriment.

*KNOCK KNOCK*

who's there! this time I screamed out loud!

' Its me Joy…. your course mate.'

Oh…Joy! I said surprising because I wasn't expecting her to come over today. I opened the door to usher her in.

'Babe! How far na, why you lock yourself inside the house like this. it's for security purpose as I said in response to her question. anyways! You done hear? She spoke with southern broken English.

What is it this time? I responded abruptly because I have told her previously of her language to be of a good one.

Never mind! results are out and only eight people came out with upper grades! You are listed among the eight people. what.... Oh my good God! I screamed out loud in excitement with my hands on my cheek. Thanks Joy! I said in enthusiasm. Now! I can travel down to Lagos.

**

I boarded on God is good transit because it's a very comfy means of transportation due to bad roads in Benin. Benin is the capital of Edo state and one of the major cities in Edo state.

It took 6 hours to get to Lagos. Getting to Lagos, I sat on the reception sit to wait patiently I have called earlier to notify him of my arrival. After few minutes, he drove down to the bus pack in Ajah to pick me up.

I embraced him so tight while he gave me a kiss on my forehead. I have missed you so much Jerry! I miss you too Rosie!

He whispered to my ears "My mum is in the car" I screamed out loud. This is the first time I will be meeting his mum. Don't worry, everything will be fine. He said to calm me down. He walked me down to the car and open the car door beside the driver seat to sit on. I looked at the back and saw his mum with a joyful smile. "Miguor" ma!. I greeted in my dialect. I composed myself knowing that his mum is with us.

**

On a cool evening after his mum had gone to the mainland, We went to the beach. I saw a lot of people in their bikinis. Music's here and there, some into horse riding etc the hustling of the sea wave makes me so freezing. He embraced me so tight to keep me warm while viewing the wave. It's so magnificent. I was amazed with the creator  of the universe giving him all the Glory. The wave is hustling without no one controlling it. This kept me in deep thoughts when he held my hand and took off my sneakers and we sauntered close to the wave.

Rosie! You have to stand your legs firmly to the ground and hold me tight. I obeyed without questioning. Now say a quiet prayer… People come here to the beach for different reasons. Look at those people over there on white garments...he pointed his fingers to the west. They are here for prayers. And to the south, those people are catching fun. So let's say these quiet prayers then have the rest of the day for ourselves. It's alright, let's do it… I nodded in agreement to the prayers.

We held ourselves so tight that the hustling of the wave splashed water on our body, a little entered my mouth. Wao…..it's salty water. I looked at our feet to see the motion of the water splash moving backwards, there I saw money '#50' that the wave brought to my feet.

Look Jerry! I called him in wonders. The wave brought this money. He was amazed and told me to keep the money. We left the water to get some soft drinks and barbecue. That was when I had a call from Joy that "NYSC" NATIONAL YOUTH SERVICE CORP registration has started.

I felt irked knowing that I will be leaving soon. Rosie! He called ….. don't get mad at the call. Just go and round up your service as soon as possible. We will have all the time we want together. Oh! It was as if he knew what I was feeling right now. I have heard you Jerry. At least, I have a memorable trip time. The wave brought me money and meeting your mother…. I thought within.
