Aether drew a sharp breath as Madam Yotsura guessed Mara's condition correctly immediately. They'd been found out.
"Ma'am, I-"
"And I assume she was affected much more severely by wildmagic." She continued with a sharp voice. Her gaze turned to Aether, almost as if she were expecting an answer. Aether gulped. He'd been careless, he'd made mistakes.
"And I assume she finally fell ill to the effects of the wildmagic flood," Madam Yotsura's streak of correct guesses continued. "And you called for Miranda, so she could conduct a cleansing ritual." She raised her chin. "Because you fear your magic will only corrupt her more." She turned her gaze to the librarian, who had been avoiding eye contact until now. "Have I missed anything?"
Miranda took a quick breath. "No, Madam." She muttered softly, her gaze on the ground and her hands clenched around her dress.
