Butterflies dotted the walls of his room, more than there would be on any other day. They had flocked here, like moths to a flame, to Miranda's spell.
Mara was laying on the bed, her expression calm, breathing long, deep breaths. With every rise and fall of her chest, strands of wildmagic left her body. Aether could clearly see those strands, so tiny that they would be harmless to anybody else.
Miranda was sitting beside Mara, her hands raised above the young woman's abdomen. Her expression was one of focus, her open eye slightly narrowed, she didn't lifter gaze off of Mara. A magic circle hastily drawn on the ground with chalk and a few drops of resin surrounded the bed they had pulled to the centre of the room.
Aether rubbed his hands together as the room started to grow colder. Miranda's spell was working, and the residual wildmagic was leaving Mara's body, albeit fairly slowly. He worried this would take several hours, if they were lucky.
