Miranda listened to her wide eyed. "Are you sure it was him who left the symbol?" She asked once more. Uria nodded. "Only five people know what it means," She reminded the librarian. "One of them is him, one is stuck in the Council, one is in seclusion, and the other two are us."
Miranda nodded. "True…" She muttered. "Then… what do we do?"
"We need to come up with a believable lie until either he returns, the Lord emerges from the obsidian room, or the Madam comes back."
Miranda scowled. "You won't even look for him?"
"I will!" Uria clenched her fists. "But I checked when I saw the mark. Whoever got to him was discreet. Minimal use of magic, no tools left behind."
"But they wounded Aether?"
Uria quickly shook her head. "I'm pretty sure he needed his own blood for the last sealing spell. He was taking longer than usual to cast them, and I swear I saw some red hue in the last explosion."
