By the time Miranda returned with two cups of hot tea and a jar of cookies on a plate, Mara had gotten comfortable already. The young woman had taken off her boots, and was sitting on a soft, comfy couch cross legged.
"Here," Miranda said with a faint smile as simpler times came to her mind. She placed the cookie jar and one of the steaming teacups on the low coffee table, and sat on the other couch herself, her own cup of tea in hand.
"Thank you!" Mara said with a cheerful voice. She took a sip of her tea, then focused her attention on the leatherbound tome on her lap. She opened it up, then flipped through its pages until stopping on an empty page. She searched around her cloak pockets and smiled with satisfaction as she pulled out a fountain pen.
"What is that tome?" Miranda asked as Mara looked around and started scribbling.
