With the creature terrorising the land dead, they finally breathed a sigh of relief. They had survived, somehow. The dead stayed dead however, and as they lowered the bodies from the black spikes, everyone's hearts were heavy.
Aether placed the dagger back into the box, and lowered Lord Ladran's body. "I killed it," He whispered softly as his magic enveloped the middle aged scholar's lifeless body, lifting him up along with the others.
Guilt weighed heavy on his heart. There were so many things he would have done differently had he known such events would take place. But what is done is done, and there is no way to turn back the hands of time.
They took the bodies back to the coliseum. Every school had suffered a loss. As they mourned and preparations for the funerals began, Ingrid quickly disappeared. She had an angry expression as she left, and Aether had a fairly good guess as to where she was going.
Iris and the others soon arrived.
