"This doesn't make sense," I grumbled under my breath. The agency safely transported Orion out. My mind couldn't understand Orion's words. It was too easy. Everything's too easy.
Heavy footsteps sounded behind me and I whipped around just to see Atlas's furious face. The others were not around and I was in the basement, still checking the monitors. Some of the operatives checked the hostel and it was squeaky clean.
"You're out of this assignment," those were Atlas's words the moment he stopped in front of me. I am frustrated with how the events turned out, and I don't want to take it out on someone not deserving of it. What Atlas was doing right now just makes me want to do the opposite.
"Excuse me?" Sheathing my thoughts in the back of my mind, I gave Atlas a blank look. He was flushed in the face, looking like he ran a marathon the whole day, his nose flaring, and his bottle-green eyes unusually dilated.
