Crisp expletives can be heard all over the room. The people present were flinching each time a crisp curse was mouthed. It's unbelievable.
"So, you can curse like a sailor too," said that amused voice.
My heavy-lidded eyes were refusing to open. It's fine with me since I want to sleep more. My head is aching, and I don't know what's causing it. I pursed my lips when it continued throbbing like hell.
"Head still aching, Mavis? Open your dang eyes, you clumsy fool," that masculine voice made me grit my teeth hard. A spark of memory rushed into my head. Each memory piece was joined together, and finally, I bolted out of bed. The memory of that stinging slap woke me up. Like, I've been doused with a bucket of cold water. I sat holding my head when it throbbed again.
"Here, take this," and someone placed a medicine on my hand. My hands automatically swallowed the tablet with no water to wash it down. Anything to lessen the throbbing of my head, I'll take it.
