*On Earth*
Xanthippeia was a shaking mess as she re-emerged from the sea and trudged up the sand. The temperature had lowered significantly as night began to set but that is not what made her tremble. It was that close encounter with death and that creepy person that simultaneously threatened her and saved her from being trapped in the ocean.
The beach was still deserted except for a couple that was having a moonlit picnic and she walked briskly over to her car and got in. She breathed in some relief and turned up the heat as she began to put her clothes on over her still wet swimsuit. She took five minutes to gather her thoughts before she looked out ahead of her at the waves that were crashing on the surface and she felt goosebumps on her skin form.
It was not the water that bothered her and she hadn't resented the ocean for what happened because she was the one that decided to go out there and into that damned cavern.
