Chapter 79 - Elven Combat

"The Wild Hunt is already here. Maryanne goes back to the others and calls the Council. We'll take care of holding them back." Maryanne then runs to the exit and entrance of the ruins as several portals open from which more of Hunt's soldiers come out.

Elana looks at her son. "My little assassin, it's time to show me how strong you have become." Saibus smiles. "I have been looking for you for a long time, and you come to me now. I will enjoy this moment. None of you will leave this place.

Saibus pulls out his twin swords and rushes forward while his mother moves her hand, summoning many fire arrows. The fire is so intense and imbued with the energy of chaos that the room temperature has risen a few degrees. However, the change in temperature does not destabilize Saibus, who is used to and resistant to temperatures, nor the elves of the Wild Hunt, protected in their enchanted armors.

Moving quickly, Saibus comes into contact with a first warrior. The warrior slices Saibus diagonally from left to right. Saibus dodges to his right and cuts through the warrior's body. The warrior falls to the ground with a metallic noise. A heavy axe comes on the side of Saibus, who blocks it with his second blade.

The latter turns on himself and uses the centrifugal force to deliver a decisive blow to the elf making him move back a few steps. Then, protected by his armor, the hunt member starts again and throws himself on Saibus. But his run is interrupted by an arrow of fire which comes to impale him.

This warrior of the Wild Hunt is not the only one to be skewered. With him, more than ten soldiers fell to the ground with burned holes in the chest or the head.

Saibus turns to the remains of the Wild Hunt. In the room, there are about fifty soldiers, including two navigators. Wielding his blades, Saibus runs towards the small army that could destroy many influential cities.

Elana moves her hands, and a sea of flames pours into the room, separating the army into ten groups of five men. Saibus smiles as he approaches the first group. The latter attack him at the same time from several different angles.

The attacks split the air, penetrating Saibus' flesh, Saibus' blood running down his body. However, the superficial cuts do not bother Saibus, who takes advantage of them to pierce and cut the torso and the head of the two soldiers in front of him. He then makes a circular movement killing the other three soldiers.

The wounds of Saibus have already closed during these two seconds. He resumes his run and hears screams of agony and the thud of the metal armors of the Aen Elle falling to the ground. The smell of burning flesh floods the room. The mixture of blood, molten metal, and burnt flesh permeates the garden of the World Tree.

Saibus passes through the flames. The flames lick him but do not harm him. It is emerging from the fire, Saibus ducks, dodging an ice spike that passes where his head was a microsecond earlier. The point continues its path through the firewall to Saibus' left. The sound of breaking ice is heard. The crash resonates with a cry of pain.

With his peripheral vision, Saibus sees through the hole in the wall of flame that the ice pick made, a navigator casting ice magic against the fire and his mother. Saibus sees icy yellow eyes looking at him with anger and hatred. The hole in the flames closes, destroying the eye contact between the navigator and Saibus.

The latter redirects his gaze forward, leaving this brief exchange of milliseconds behind him. He cuts the air with his right blade. A blade of air shoots out of the edge as he mutters a word in an ancient language.

The air blade breaks the air in two and splits two of the five soldiers in front of him. The other three warriors form up and advance toward him. Saibus dodges one sword and blocks the other two. Sparks fly in the air. Saibus' swords slide over the blades of the Hunt. Then, with his momentum, he slips out of the formation and uses his agility and speed to pierce the necks of two soldiers as he passes between them.

The corpses fall heavily to the ground as Saibus dodges another blow from the group's last member. Saibus then moves his wrist to turn his blade and slice the abdomen of the soldier, who falls to the ground spilling his intestines on the floor.

A large amount of steam rises to the room's ceiling, accompanied by a loud sound of melting ice. She was turning to the left bottom of the sea of flame. A large block of ice tries to put out the flames. The ice manages to extinguish a small part of the sea of fire, but only around it.

Saibus runs to his right and jumps through the flames. He then slices the air straight ahead without seeing or knowing what is there. Emerging from the fire, Saibus sees four corpses in front of him, all with holes in their bodies. Closer to him, the severed head of the navigator flies through the air and falls onto his own body. The pilot rolls for a meter or two before stopping. The navigator's eyes show only surprise and incomprehension.

Saibus mutters several words in elven language. The blood on the ground levitates upwards. The blood forms several long needles, which, once created, fly up into the air. The hands shoot through the sea of flames, piercing the neck, head, or heart of the Wild Hunt members they meet. Like guided arrows, the needles twirl through the air, always looking for prey. As for Saibus, he walks into the sea of flames. Soon, no more cries of pain, suffering, or metallic shock. Silence settles in the room, a quiet and relaxing stillness.

The flames then recede. They fade away and disappear into the void. The once beautiful view is now stained with blood, death, and destruction.

Elana approaches Saibus.

"You have grown up well, my little assassin. I am so proud of you." Elana takes Saibus in her arms and holds him tightly against her. Saibus returns the hug holding his mother close.

"I am happy too, mom, but you forget that that one hour is not even passed. We are far from the 24 hours allowed by the World Tree."

"Yes, you have all the time to speak to me about you." declares Elana. Too bad for them, a frost explosion is created and propagates within some meters of them. The ground is covered with a thick layer of ice. The cold spreads at a frantic pace, but it stops as quickly as it appears.

The source of the frost is a portal from which a tall person in dark Wild Hunt armor emerges. The being in armor holds a scepter with a bluish stone at the end. Saibus recognizes this person. He knows him very well. He has researched the Wild Hunt. He knows its structure, lieutenants, king, and way of doing things. After all, you have to know your enemy to defeat him better.

"You are trespassing on the domain of the Wild Hunt, half-elf. You should leave before I decide to end your life." declares the in a deep, dark voice.

Saibus sketches a bloodthirsty smile. "No, Caranthir Ar-Feiniel, Navigator and Lieutenant, as well as dog Eredin Breacc Glas, today marks the end of the Navigator and Wizard of the Wild Hunt."

"So be it. The noble Di Vine family will pass away in honor of the battle."
